Sad indeed. Popularity has far outstripped demand. I have a ten year old bottle of PVW 15 unopened left. I went through a flight of BTAC at my wedding and really cleaned out what I had left. In the early 00's I was buying the stuff and no one would drink it with me. I actually sold a bunch on ebay to find expanding my home brewery and I thought I made a killing back then.

These days I'd be happy to find a bottle of Elmer T Lee.

I have yet to see a bottle ETL on the shelf in Houston

I think I saw a bottle on the shelf a week or so ago. I'll circle back today to see if it's still there when I go to stock up for Halloween festivities.

I don't even recall seeing a bottle of ETL in the last year.

If you do not want, I will certainly take it. I have a bottle I traded a W12 for off a facebook bourbon group.

Goody Goody in Cypress had some Elmer a few months back. I have been told that specs doesn't stock ETL so that probably contributes to the lack of sightings.

According to the bourbonr blog, BTAC has hit Texas. Anyone gotten any calls besides AustinInsAg? Would be happy if I could just find a bottle of ER17 although I'm not counting on finding anything. Any tips on finding some without being on a 3yr waiting list?

Not to add any additional discussion or gripes about the bourbon craze and availability now, but it has pushed me to trying some American single malt whiskeys.

You guys tried any of these? Stranahan's out of Colorado is pretty good, and seems to be widely available. Theres a couple of really good ones available up here in the PNW: Westward (Oregon) and Westland (Washington).

I've got a bottle of the Stranahans Diamond Peak which I'm a fan of.

Spec's doesn't stock it on the shelf. It's only for their allocated customers. They keep it in the back with the manager and it has to be asked for. It was limited to one bottle per person. I was able to get one a few months back but probably won't get another call about it.

Not heard anything on BTAC in Houston. I am a big fan of of the Stranny Diamond though if you're lucky enough to be in Denver when they release the Snowflake a couple times a year - the one I tried was worth the $100 or so.

Just my personal opinion on the stranny - the yellow label is younger, typically 2-4 years I believe. They started saving barrels for the Diamond Peak 4+ years and I believe they picked out some of the better barrels so I think the yellow label may have suffered a touch from that. I didn't like the yellow label when I first had it, but really loved batch 3 of the diamond peak.

Shaggie, really sorry to hear about that failed shop relationship.
BTAC delivered in Houston. Dallas still waiting.

AggieChemist, I think I'm more impressed with that George T. Stagg under the shelf!

November 1st.
It's the most wonderful time of the year! The next 2-3 weeks are bound to get interesting.

I've come to realize the amount of effort and money you have to expend to land a bottle is not worth the difference in quality from something you can get substantially cheaper that requires no more work than driving to the corner store any other day of the year.

I have an extra bottle of Barterhouse if anyone is interested in trading.

My bourbon selection here is pretty limited... But I did snag some sake aged in bourbon barrels that, while not as high ABV, is super smooth.

The Japanese make some damn good whiskey of their own. You tried many?

A few. They don't tend to be as sweet as bourbon, but they aren't bad.

For those who've been to the Maker's Mark distillery, is there an easy way to ship bourbon purchased at the distillery back to TX? We are going to the Vandy game in a couple of weeks and I'd like to buy some and send it back for Christmas gifts but I don't want to risk packing it in my luggage.

FedEx or UPS. Do not tell them the contents. Just wrap it really well in bubble wrap. If it breaks in transit you lose as alcohol is a violation of their policy.

went in halfsie with my FIL and we gave a couple bottle to other family members but going to keep the rest for consumption. We probably paid way too much for them anyways, but if my guy comes through like he said he would this fall ill put a couple on here for what ever price I paid for them and let a couple of Ags have first dibs on them.

He promised me at least 3-4 bottles of 20/23 and several more of the 15 year.

If you're interested in my unopened 6 to 8 year old bottle of PVW 15, let me know. I also have an unopened Thomas Handy Saz that I believe is 2009 at 129p. I have to double check that. I used to buy a lot of the good stuff before they all became white whales, these are my last two unopened bottles and should have been bought around the same time.
