We need to get more of our grads out there. Maybe Sam bringing home the US Am. Championship will attract a couple of more high-end kids to the program.

Hard to compete with some of the others schools training facilities. Not sure what ours are like but seen some of the other schools on TV and they are nice.

Weird day for Palmer at Pebble Beach today. 3 bogeys and 2 double bogeys. Also 3 birdies and an eagle (on a par 4).

The incoming 2023 class is ridiculously good.

Arnaus and Veerman are paired together for round 3 in UAE. They were teammates back in 2014.

Woof is right.

Starting to think Sam might be our only hope assuming he gets his tour card.

They've played 1/3 of the season. He's played 7 times. 1 top 10, 1 top 25. He's won >$360K this year and $7.5MM with 3 wins.

Bogey, triple, double on consecutive holes ruins a score. You might br writing him off too soon.

Before this weekend, he missed 5 of 7 cuts on the 2022-2023 season. Yes he finished 8th at the Zozo where he won over 340k. His only other made cut was last week at the Farmers where he shot 77 in the final round to finish T53.

If you go back to last May with his missed cut at the PGA, he has missed 11 of his last 15 cuts. It'll be 12 of 16 when he's done today unless he can manage an insanely good score.

He can hit the ball a mile. He's never putted great but over the last year his approach game has gone to complete $#!t. Yesterday his driving accuracy was awful too. This is a combination for mixed cuts. If he keeps this up for a while longer he won't have a tour card.

I was responding to the guy saying Sam is our only hope. Champ has had success and I wouldn't be surprised to see him have more in spite of a less than stellar stretch.

Champ is enormously talented, which is why this stretch is baffling. He actually putted decently for the most part yesterday. If his short and approach game can be middle of the pack, he can win a lot more tournaments.

My two cents is that he needs to play in way more tournaments. He had an injury a while back that kept him out, but he seems to play a similar schedule to guys like JT and Spieth, taking off less important tournaments.

Cam needs to get this figured out and win a lesser tournament like the Valero in SA or something to get his confidence back. He needs to be like a rookie who just got his tour card.

Champ misses the cut at the Valspar by 1 stroke. Missed 14 of 18 cuts.

Make that 15 of 19 missed cuts for Champ. He was looking good (E) to make the cut, then he got an 8 on the very short par 4 17th (only 354 yards). He hit a tee shot out of bounds, followed by a nice provisional ball in the fairway. Then he duffed his fourth shot into the bunker, followed by a lousy shot out of the bunker that didn't hit the green. Then he two-putted. He'll miss the cut again.

I've been on record on numerous occasions that Cam is an outstanding golfer, albeit one with a suspect short game. His short game is nowhere near his problem now. His issues are between the ears. It's sad. Thankfully for him he's done well enough at the Master's in previous years to qualify next week, but if he doesn't get some serious help for his mental shortcomings, I don't see how he'll have a tour card a few years from now. This is a major emergency and he needs to figure out what's wrong with his mental fortitude.

On a happier note, congrats to Chandler Phillips on a great performance thus far.

You can't make this stuff up. After I wrote my previous post, Champ managed an eagle on the par 5 18th. He pulverized a 358 yard drive then stuck his 221 yard second shot within 10 fit of the pin. Made the putt for an eagle.

And this illustrates my frustration with Cam. He can do things like getting an eagle on a par five, immediately after (or prior) getting an 8 on an easy par 4. He still won't make the cut.

The dude is infinitely better than his results over the past 18 months have been. With all the young talent on tour (and the Korn Ferry), he needs to figure it out or he'll have to get a normal job.

Can we claim half of Schefflers success since his wife is an Aggie?

Two thirds. His sister is an Aggie too.

Didn't know that but even cooler! I don't have the same animosity for tu golf players as I do their football team. I'm pulling for Scheffler to defend at the masters next week! Seems like an all around good dude and I don't blame him for going to tu for golf. I'd probably done the same thing if I had no ties to any program in Texas as a kid. Heck Palmer courted him as a youth player in DFW and prob told him that's what he should do.

Whoa whoa whoa. Mind blown. I just googled "Callie Scheffler" - I found her 12thman.com profile - https://12thman.com/sports/womens-golf/roster/callie-scheffler/4302

This is where things get a little crazy - Her LinkedIn profile pops up - she's in commercial real estate in Temple - https://www.linkedin.com/in/calliescheffler/

AND HER LAST NAME IS PAYSSE. As in William Paysse from Aggie Golf - https://12thman.com/sports/mens-golf/roster/william-paysse/11265 - is he married to her? Or did she marry his brother?

The sip-Aggie circle of life knows no end.

Ok I figured it out. Callie (Scottie's sister) is married to Andrew Paysse, another former Aggie golfer and William Paysse's brother. So Scottie is surrounded by Aggies, but our golf program was trash compared to sip when he was coming out of Highland Park HS so he went there.

Take a Xanax bud.

The Aggie golf program has been far from "trash". The program in Austin has just been better, produced more PGAT players for the past 50 years. It's a no brainer on which program to choose unless you have ties to A&M or are wanting to go against the grain.

And could it also be, that much like tu's swimming program, they "put" their players in PGA at such a high level because they attract the best players to begin with?

Yes? Texas is more attractive for just about every sport across the board. They have the brand and many considered them the flagship university for the largest state in the country

PGAT (Mexico Open)

Champ, Cam - shot a -3 68 in round one - outstanding, gutsy round for Cam. He started with a double bogey thanks to hitting his opening tee shot into the water. He was -5 for the remainder of the round with only one bogey (where he also hit one in the water). He was great on approach (1.7 SG - 24th in the round), of course pulverized the ball (#1 in distance) and made some putts (1.341 SG - 36th for the round). He was -3 on the par fives. This is the way Cam can win. Just keep the ball out of the water and hitting GIR and he'll finish in the top 10 this weekend IMO. He teed off at 8:30 this morning, and just hit his approach shot within 6 feet of the pin and made his birdie - he sits at -4, 4 strokes off the lead. Watch out for him this weekend. Playing outstanding so far.
Palmer, Ryan - not playing

DPWT (Korea Championship)

Arnaus, Adri - not playing
Elvira, Nacho - MC - shot 75, 83. Woof.
Veerman, Johannes - MC - shot 74, 76.

KFT (HomeTown Lenders Championship) - play was called off yesterday due to weather

Burgoon, Bronson - not playing - has he called it a career? Haven't seen him in a while.
Phillips, Chandler - 6:25 tee time
Shindler, Conrad - not playing

Challenge Tour (Abu Dhabi Championship)

Erickson, Dan - MC - shot 76, 72.
Pavan, Andrea - -3 through two rounds. He'll make the cut.
