Champ and Palmer are in position to have conditional status for 2024. I'm guessing Champ is just taking the week off before heading to the RSM to end his season.

Palmer with a T8 this weekend. He'll be in the field at next week's RSM. He moved from 136 to 131 with this week's result. A few months ago someone here mentioned that Palmer can use a one-time exemption due to being top 50 in all-time career earnings to keep his status. I'm assuming he doesn't want to use that exemption this year if possible, because he's basically been playing in every tournament this fall. He only has 3 seasons remaining before he'll be eligible for the Champions Tour.

Bennett missed the cut.

According to this link, Champ is fully exempt next season despite being outside the top 125.

Thanks for that. I always root for Champ. I sure don't understand the nuance of qualification. Outside the Top 125? That's o.k., you're in anyway! I'll take it and look forward to '24.

You get a two-year exemption whenever you win a tournament, and it appears that you can stack them with multiple wins. For Champ: win in 2018, gain exemption for 2019 and 2020, then win in 2019 and gain exemption for 2021 and 2022 (since 2020 was already covered for the first win), then win in 2021 and gain exemption for 2023 and 2024 (since 2022 was covered by the second win).

I'm not 100% sure on this, but it's my best guess.

I would assume for how long Palmer has been on tour, he could drum up a few sponsor invites as well.

Palmer will miss the cut at the RSM.

Cam needs to birdie his last two to finish at -4, which is the current cut line.

Huge birdie for Cam on 17! Just needs to birdie 18 and he'll very likely make the cut. Par 5, handicap 18.

Finished w/a birdie on 18. Gutsy down the stretch. He's -4, T60. Hopefully there won't be much movement and he'll make the cut. This would be his 5th made cut in a row.

Decent article explaining where Champ, Palmer sit

Quote:

Former Tour winners like Peter Malnati, Troy Merritt, Ryan Moore, C.T. Pan, Patton Kizzire, Ryan Palmer, Scott Piercy and Cameron Champ (who occupy spots 119, 123, 128, 129, 130, 131, 133 and 135, respectively, on the points list) can play next season under the Past Champion category, although that exemption is further down the priority ranking than those who finish inside the top 125.

Also with a bit of a lifeline is Palmer, who has yet to use his exemption from being in the top 50 of career earnings on the PGA Tour (33rd), although he may choose to wait to use the one-time exemption.
