I'll say this, Herman couldn't walk into an easier situation. He literally just left a more talented conference to come to the Big 12, as the American Conference produced more draft picks than the Big 12 did. If that isn't a total indictment of the league, nothing is.

And if the BCS system was still in place, that would be true. But it's not. And the play-off committee now has enough experience to cast a jaundiced eye towards the Big XII's strength of schedule. Plus, the incredibly stupid Big XII CCG debuts this season.

I'd wager the results of that game knocks their best hope for a play-off spot out of the running.

As others have said, that home schedule is awful. Last year they had Notre Dame and Baylor at home. OSU is the best home game they have. Ouch! Fire up the Groupon machine for the Maryland bunch special.

Herman vs chuck?

Let's just say that chuck was a good recruiter, but he didn't recruit like Herman and I will elaborate on that.

Yes chuck was good and had two good years of arguably top 10 talent. But he could not compete head to head with Texas A&M. He won some like Malik Jefferson, which you still can't get over, but mostly he wasn't a factor in your recruiting.

This year kids who hold A&M offers are choosing Texas. So now the recruiting ship in Texas has been righted. It's really 50/50 the way it should be.

I will also argue the 5 committed recruits from California, Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kentucky puts Herman and Texas on a more national recruiting stage.

So by potential of what has happened in the off season Herman is a Home run.

They are #3 in composite and he has a chance to go #1.

If he does somehow manage to, they'll get crushed. They don't have the talent up front and don't appear to be getting it either. And to do it at all, he knew st likely has to go undefeated which is incredibly difficult to do in any league, even the Big 12.
