It's got FIVE car garages... that's AWESOME. But do they ALL have to be forward-facing?

Good lord that house is pretty bad. At least clean the stainless fridge before hi res photos.

$20 says all that wine is from Walgreens.

I am so confused by this:

I mean, it's ugly from any angle.

The first floor is a "guest house". But why was it EVER designed like this in the first place?

And lovely painted wood floors throughout the 3rd floor (second floor of "main" home):

WHY on the "guest house" kitchen tile:

And WHY were roofs like this EVER a style?

Master bath - they should really spring for a glass door here.:

complete with its own "casting" room

Definitely no architect involved with this one. The layout and design looks like two different floorplans from a catalog that were somehow merged together. It's seriously confusing, like one ceiling is trying to be contemporary and then you've got the room with the arched one that's more Mediterranean. Masonry used on the back is different enough from the front that it's almost like the realtor mixed pictures of two different houses.

Master bath layout is straight out of the late '80s and the finishes seem out of place in a house at that price point. Overall it's just weird, like the buyer working directly with the builder and the results are this mutt.

Looks pretty typical for the area I live in. Welcome to Charleston lowcountry style.

I could swear I've seen the ugly mansard roof one on McMansion Hell. Either that or its equally ugly twin.

Wine cellar? Nope, they like to store their stash in the attic where it's extra hot
edit: WTF, two window units to keep the heat out?

Rent roll a list of tenant in what they are paying for rent. Profit and loss statement is a company financial statement. I would expect to have to sign NDA in order to obtain those.
This and it is very standard to get this info. You would be shocked sometimes on how varied the rental rates are for similar units within the same complex. Variation is more common on older developments where you may have someone living there for 10+ years, but still you don't want that info in the hands of everyone.

This isn't an attic, it's a "wine shed".

Torn out carpet remnant on the floor and boxes to sit on. The only way this could get lower rent is if they used OSB and made space to store boxes of wine instead of bottles.

Considering how SWBell-y that structure appears from the street, it's surprisingly pleasant inside.

All garage. Was an architect ever involved in this design?

Not ideal,, but not totally awful. The inside is kinda nice.

The exterior...featuring nothing but 3 garages in front...is terrible. In my opinion.

just awful.

any "architect" that uses the garages as a focal point for the front elevation (especially at this price range) should be flogged.

This is a house in the 'burbs, seller is asking for over $1.3 million, it's on a huge lot. There was plenty of room for a design that did not require three front- loading garages as the MAIN architectural focal point(s). There is zero excuse for this sort of laziness.

It is TERRIBLE. I hate front-loading garages in small houses. But I can understand the need for economy of space and budget in those cases. Not here.

Yesh, some really nice, cedar doors might have helped... but they'd probaby look weird on this Mediterranean disaster.

Isn't the Mediterranean style played out yet? Ick.
The Fife
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's been played out for a decade now. Modern farmhouse has headed out the door in a lot of areas as well.

That place definitely looks like someone with a lot of cash or the ability to finance working directly with a builder and without an architect or designer, and you get The Homer of houses. They'll know how to put things together but not how to make it look good.

i have always disliked the Mediterranean look on the coastal plains of SE Texas.

On the water in South Florida it fits...looks out of place with oak or pine trees in the yard.
The Fife
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It worked in the Austin-SA area, especially on the higher end of things where you'd have someone competent or experienced with putting it all together. In regular houses, random mustard, beige, or olive walls and overiszed furniture no. I hated that crap so much.

I just can't with this house. So much wasted opportunity with the renovation.

Did they even hire a designer? I know there is a person for every house, but they are asking above top dollar per sq ft to pay for their awful design choices.

they definitely should have muted those colors a bit for resale. The kitchen ain't my bag, but someone may like it.

As to your other question, are people really paying $275+/sqft for a house in that area? Seems crazy.

Its a mid-century modern farmhouse.

Honestly, that house would fit its style better if they could paint it white, but I guarantee that isn't allowed in their HOA. That black window frame with red brick looks pretty awful.

Don't know what they were thinking with the bench going behind the entertainment center + offcenter fireplace. That backsplash accent tile is ugly.

The most frustrating thing is that different shower height.

Diggity

yeah, that was one of their big renovations. That house just doesn't work with those contemporary windows.
