Can you give a brief explanation of how the shorts would manipulate? I've seen this before and can't wrap my head around how they'd be able to move it.

the range on POWL is glorious, I have yet to play it at all but this may have to go on my watchlist.

13% drop on zero news is just wild to me.
Fundamentally, POWL is golden and LT investors just have to stomach the violent swings, but they don't need to worry about losing money. Their volatility is only due to their extremely small float. It's currently being manipulated by short sellers using it as their own personal ATM/casino. I actually emailed their investor relations and informed them of that. They never replied, but hopefully my email created some watercooler discussion. Honestly, if I had FU money, then I'd probably be doing the same, but I don't have FU money. I see what they're doing and it's easy and very profitable. Their only major risk is if POWL out of the blue declared a 5:1, 10:1 stock split, then they'd be curb stomped if they were on the wrong side at that time.

Not sure why a $170 entity would go 10:1 or even 5:1. Honestly splitting at all seems silly in that price range?
Pull up a 3 year chart on them. Their stock never did much until another large company basically forced them into vertical integration of their own products. That's when their run began. They have destroyed earnings estimates every since they did. They have zero debt, 1.3B backlog, they also increased capacity which just came online that increases their production. They're also a microcap with an actual PE because they're very profitable and pay a dividend. How many microcaps have you seen with zero debt, low PE, and pays a dividend? They need to address their low float and besides, it's a $250-300 stock if they were to declare a 5:1, 10:1 split because that would drop the short's nuts into a woodchipper.

JMO, but I don't lose sleep owning a lot of it.

Prog,

I take it that you didn't sell your $122 POWL shares once it cross $200? Still holding?

P.S Hope everything with your house got straightened out.

Ok, POWL's float is around 12M shares and daily volume is around a couple of 100K. If they can borrow the stock to short at $200 and they all hit it with that selling pressure, the move down is significant. Then when they decide it's been crushed enough, say at $170, then they not only cover, they go long twice the amount they had shorted, creating huge buy side pressure. They then ride it back up on the momentum they manifested, then sell the long position and flip to the short side to push it back down.

They're not even trying to hide what they're doing, they're just ringing the register. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, I'm still holding and actually added more at $142-145. I'm not selling this time for a trade, it's to Valhalla or hell for me this go round.

Thank you! I'm in a better place now and able to get my head above water.

Because I doubt many here have FU money to gamble with. When you short, then you're shorting Blackrock and with their small float, if they declare a split out of the blue then you're ****ed in a squeeze. That's a very dangerous game to play even for the most experienced traders.

While POWL has not yet confirmed a top. It's trying really hard and the trendlines on RSI and MACD tell me it might be in. Look at RSI specifically. And how MACD spiked and pulled away from the average line, very similar to the SLV top in 2011 I posted about last night.

To me, this is one of those ones that by the time it confirms, its too late to get out and salvage profits.

Ok, makes sense but the short interest has grown significantly since December 2023 so I can't figure out when they are covering. Is it just more players getting involved or are they flipping positions within the reporting periods?

The shorts aren't a cartel that move as one, they're constantly flipping positions. Word gets around among people that are profiting from shorts, just like a hot stock makes it's way to people that go long. I doubt the majority of the shorts playing could even tell you where POWL is HQ'd. They just see a stock that's gone from $50 to $200 with a small float. It's a game for them. They're not shorting because POWL's business sucks and riding it to zero, they're just riding a wave for profit. I hope they keep it up and short interest increases because the squeeze higher will be massive when they're forced to cover.

Ok. Parameters set. We have a 50% retrace of the move off the April low. I do expect one more push down to the 61.8% around $61 range.

But buy here and place stop at $59. Target $77-$90, and there would be some potential swings around and between those numbers. The most bullish target is $100.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be taking anything on my watchlist up with it lol

Looks like a short term bottom leading to a short term bounce recovery. MACD is crossed down on daily, 4h, and 2h. It could cross back. Monday or Tuesday will tell us what is next.

I don't have the time to confirm this but it looks like end of month and massive sector rotation by funds out of tech. If they rotated into defensive stocks like energy, consumer staples, etc. then they're anticipating some negative news imho.

I doubt it. Anyone that uses that lump 3' above their ass knew what the outcome would be in NY. I think our idiots in the State Dept. fueled the weakness in the market today before the buy programs kicked in.
