I had an alert from Seeking Alpha that China had approved that AMD / XLNX deal. I clicked on it and poof, it was gone. Was I still asleep? Did the article get pulled? I can't find anything else on it.

Let's see if the morning dip, rally, then puke happens again.

I always try to think about catalysts or what the goal could be if it's a pre-planned move. Yesterday it seemed like dumping big volume to close and then pumping with small volume AH would give more potential to a downside move. Today with the AH hammer it down but them bring it back up I'm not sure. It could be people freaking out yesterday PM but then others pumping it back up for another dump? But that doesn't seem obvious.

This one is tough.



TLDR.. pay very close attention through next week. If we haven't started back up yet, I would expect earnings to act as our "b" wave catalyst. If we have started back up, then it would depend on which wave we are in within the "b" wave to know what earnings might do. Sometimes earnings do nothing. I'll follow up a week from now.

Edit: Though the last month has vindicated my "we need more weakness because most every stock and index is too extended up!!!!!!!" mantra, I have noticed that my errors usually come when I make calls to the downside. So if you want to try and play AMD, maybe keep it in the back of your mind that..

1. This is still a bull market. Surprises come to the upside
2. Mazag08 is maybe 3 years into this and is at best a 5 out of 10 on the EW scale of perfectness.
3. AMD is in an industry experiencing shortages and high demand. Again.. surprises should be expected upward.

To add another variable, China just approved AMD;s deal to buy XLNX. Who knows what that will do to the stock price. Acquirer usually goes down on the announcement, but this one has been percolating for a while. I am kind of surprised they didn't wait until next week, or maybe they wanted to get it out of the way and not overshadow the earnings with this news, too.

I am going to make a call - AMD will hit $180 by the end of 2022. I will caveat that it will only happen in a decent U.S. stock market (where AMD is not unfairly penalized by the overall market conditions) and all bets are off if things escalate between China, Taiwan and the U.S.

I am also an AMD permabull. So, take that with a grain of salt if you are reading this. And buy AMD when it is cheap!

- between 4380 and 4340 there may be range moves
- below 4340 and then 4270

Similar to Mancini levels from yesterday. Above 4385 and there's upside to 4430. Get and hold above that and upside to 4540. Below 4385 triggers downside.

That could be what the AH and premarket was for. Get both the bears and the bulls all hot and bothered during low volume trading so they buy OTM puts and calls this morning, then flat day. That would make some sense.

I'll often look at the end of day profile and say "where is the worst possible spot to open to anticipate direction?"

Today that spot is right in the middle of the double distribution singles in $NQ and $ES which is right where they'll open.
