urg, I wish I had looked at my YTD cost-basis a little more closely before now. I have a lot of losses to capture to prevent a big bill.

To any other noobs that did great in first part of the year and then sucked it up with what you rolled into, consider this an additional warning. I have a lot of difficult decisions to make. Most of my profits were rolled into things that are down bigly. Pay the tax man now and hope? Wish work hadn't kept me so busy this past month.

Buy 980C
Sell two 1000C
Buy 1020c

Profit is if it closes between 982-1018 on Wednesday, max profit would be a close on 1000

Yep, was in the same boat. Unloaded NILE, IMMR, NXTD, QD, SINO, WATT, & MGTI over the past week to reduce gains from Jan/Feb. Big lesson learned in doing so. Makes me mad/sad every time I think about it.

Dump the losers and decrease your tax liability. Very likely you can buy them back near where you sell them now after 31 days, if you want to. If you don't book the loss and they're at this price or lower for six months then you'll be stupid pissed when you have to pay your taxes and didn't take advantage of this. That's like smashing your nuts with a hammer, twice.
