I know you're asking brew but my strategy is if there's a big move and I've got a lot of time left I'll sell enough to get my capital back and let the rest ride. More often than not i ride them until expiration or close them day of or before. Spreads fit my personality because I seem to always either take profits too early or let options expire worthless so this way they're harder to close out and if i let them go to 0 at least I'm losing less.

I feel like you just said verbatim how I have traded these last few months. But that makes a lot of sense and something I think I will dabble in more as I continue learning.

Folks, I am going to say again. Markets are in a precarious position and there are many catalysts this week. Most tech has run into earnings - will earnings be enough to justify higher prices?

I think you mean 16,000

if we went straight to 16,000 from here, I would obviously look to short and that would be a blow off top. I think that is highly unlikely within the next 20 trading sessions.

Also, general commentary: a day like today is required for a higher push upwards and in theory, futures dipped before the cash session, representing enough of a pull back to drive energy up from here.

/ES 4450 gets into short candidate territory. /NQ 15250 is solid short territory as well.

My sense is tech earnings will either cause us to trade flat for a while or invoke a sell-off. Given then run up into earnings in all the tech stocks, they would have to say something truly profound to drive strong upward pressure across the board. AMZN split will drive the market if it happens.

IWM tested the 21/89 EMA twice and closed below 21 EMA, but above 8 EMA. IWM must reclaim 21 EMA to be considered a confirmed reversal, losing 8 EMA would be considered bearish. It is working off an oversold condition, so very possible it could have a big move to the downside.
