We're in the wild, the market will help us find natural resistance. This isn't a virus/lockdown dependent play, and they are notoriously tight lipped on deal disclosure so I'm not expecting many flash headlines, but this is 2020 so who knows.

Recent headlines show a couple of funds taking a stake, that spurred us up over $16-$17.
If the reports are accurate, Soros is one of those groups and he took a big position. If that evil ******* takes that kind of stake, they'll be getting a lot contracts in the future.

Sounds like he's regretting it and wanting to sell entire position.

MARA filled for me overnight at $3.60.

Will be watching for selling some $5 or $7.50 covered calls out as far as March, although would prefer Dec

I bought some $1 Jan '22 leaps and sold $4 December against it. Goal was keep rolling the short to be net free on the long premium eventually. Looks like I'm gonna close this one out a year or so early.

Wanted to give a big shoutout and thanks to OA for some great options callouts over the past month and change. Thanks for the continued education and for putting up with us turds.

I've been trying to be more diligent in tracking some of the ones I've shadowed OA on as it provides some accountability for myself. These are just the ones that are closed out, there are some active ones that are also doing well.

This isn't intended to be a bragging post, but rather a demonstration that even if you screw-up on some entries/exits (like I know I have) the picks/advice given here has had a great track record, especially here recently.

(and yes I know 'theoretical' is misspelled)

Question for the board:
What does consistent volume at the close typically mean? In the case below it's been on green candles but not much price change

Is this a sign of big volume accumulating at negotiated prices? Is it masking a sell-off of some whale to exit this before some big news breaks like AMZN using their own storage instead of continuing to lease from DRE? Or does it mean nothing? It sticks out to me because it's such big volume over the normal 30-minute volume during the other portions of the trading day.

How often are you guys riding options to 0? I know the idea is to only put up money you can lose, but I thought it was good risk management or capital preservation to set stops to get back at least 40-50% of capital?

Using $20k portfolio as round numbers:
If you're only willing to risk 5% and that's $1000, but you cap your loss at 50% you have a max risk of $500. That would be no different than limiting that to 2.5% and being willing to risk 100% loss. Any thoughts?

I would. Nobody can afford it, including SWA.
I took profits on my Jan2022 C$190 yesterday and plan to sell half of my Jan2022 C$220 at the open today.

I'll ride YOLOs to $0 but if I have plays that dip lower than 50% of my buy price I've messed up. Big gains, small gains, and small losses is what I try to focus on. Throw in a few YOLOs to spike the football or keep my degenerate side happy.

More often than I should as shown above. That was the eye-opening part for me when I sat down and looked at the percentages last night. Have to do a better job with stop losses.

Good feedback, thanks! Working through and changing up a set of "rules" to define my trading so I'm always curious what others are doing and whether I have room to improve (answer is always). I like the way you said that, "big gains, small gains, and small losses." Keep hitting singles/doubles, limit the damage when proven wrong and set myself up for a homerun after going net free.

I am a bit hesitant as well. The AAII sentiment is extremely bullish (contrarian signal). Also, the smart vs dumb money shows we should be cautious.

The AAII sentiment was historically bearish in March and look how that turned out. I don't see a massive drop (nor do the traders I follow), but they are cautious.

I calculate what my risk $ are by the % of my account I'm willing to risk at a loss. The loss amount not amount I'm willing to invest. If I'm willing to risk $1000 then whatever my stop would be set at vs the mark price gap determines how much I buy in value. Whether I ride to $0 or not depends if a lotto or YOLO but typically on options 50% is my stop level and shares are determined by technical support levels.

reminds me of CWH and OSTK, almost every time I tried to play them (options) I lost. Even when I see sweeps on OSTK now, I've noticed it only moves up a touch and then they cash out same day.

Doing better since I leave those alone now! If only I'd bought FUBO options in addition to shares, WOW!

At least for the next month or so I'll be content to be fairly bullish. I feel comfortable that I'm hedged enough with SPXS calls to limit damage if there's a substantial drop. If there's a 10% drop I'm probably eating that, but I feel like I have at least as good of a chance for 10% gains over that time as I do for a drop that big. I'm not arguing with anyone here, especially the more experienced guys like you, but that's my $0.02.

Tickers don't care about your trade and they don't remember you. Play the setups that give you high probabilities to win. They don't work every time, but if you curate them and protect the plays you can succeed.
