Anyone else think NIO might rip in the next couple weeks? They had good August deliveries and only dipped below their recent $17 offering for a hot second today during this pullback...

DOCU reports at the bell today and they've taken a 13% hit today................ DON'T DO IT MC
235/240 call debit spread for 1.4? 230/235 for 1.93? Something fancier? They're gonna kill it right? As long as tomorrow isn't a bloodbath it's gotta hold 235...should be an easy double?

You're thinking like me, but my gut says "What's easy, never is"
today basically robbed it of it's run up. I'm gonna do it

edit: got the 230/235s for 2.30
I got the same but for 2.08. watching the funny candles now.
nice, I think we should be good. Spent the day watching crwd struggle to hold 130 so my 125/130s pay max tomorrow too

Closed out the docu spreads for a nickel each because i had to do something and couldn't watch the close. Also lucked out and closed the crwd spreads for $1 each and also sold the crwd 125c for a buck that i bought this morning for .5
Expensive lesson, not sure i learned anything though.

Quote:

Shares of Tesla dropped more than 6% after hours on Friday after the S&P 500 Index Committee decided to move Etsy, Teradyne and Catalent into the S&P 500, but abstained from including Elon Musk's electric vehicle and solar energy company.

Some Tesla investors expected the company to be included this quarter, as the company reported its fourth consecutive quarter of profitability in July.

According to S&P Dow Jones Indices, there's over $11.2 trillion in assets benchmarked to the S&P 500, with roughly $4.6 trillion of the total in indexed funds. An inclusion for Tesla would mean tracking funds would need to buy more than 120 million shares of Tesla stock, soon.

The make-up of the S&P 500 is determined by what's known as the "Index Committee" at S&P Dow Jones Indices. Inclusion is based on quantitative as well as qualitative factors.

Companies must be U.S. based, and listed on either the NYSE, the Nasdaq or the Cboe. They also must have a market cap of more than $8.2 billion, and report four straight quarters of profit as determined by U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Even if a company meets these criteria
TER added to S&P

Is this a surprise? This is a huge shot in the arm for ter, right? Oa's sept 18 90c (that i got out of Monday) should print Tues!

Fidelity users, is there a way to turn off the setting to automatically sell options when near expiration? It sold my NVDA $500 calls around 2pm at $6 and shortly after ran to $11
I don't have that option that I know of. Mine will go through expiry and execute. Do you have enough cash or available margin to cover if it the calls would have executed? If not maybe they sell those off automatically 1 hour before expiry to protect themselves?
Happen to me also. Sucks. Tsla also

Tuesday should be interesting. SPY looks to be in a descending channel. If you believe that channels typically take 3 bounces before breaking, then we have one more to go before resuming the uptrend.

Thundergon
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Apples chart mirrors that of SPY. It bounced hard off the bottom channel line for a move up on Friday. Looks like Tuesday it could confirm an upside breakout or continue a move down within the descending channel.

Nice work... looks gloomy for Tuesday. Also SPY looks like a bear flag to me on the hourly.

I read this, this morning, I'm paraphrasing, but:
It seems there is big money that wants to wreck the markets and there's a big pull the other way to go to the moon (both may be politically motivated). Tech looks crazy volatile right now as an example. Vix is also still elevated, despite it's dump end of Friday.

Airlines and cruise lines though might jump this week, lots of good setups there.
Thundergon
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah I've seen a lot of discussion regarding next week on how the "value" stocks are going to go parabolic similar to the move tech made. It does look like cruise lines, airlines, and casinos are setup to move.

We did break the major support trend line on the SPY daily chart going back to the covid dip in March. It held on Thursday but Friday we couldn't reclaim it so we will see.

Glad you did well on Thursday!

The Trump administration is considering imposing export restrictions on Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, China's largest manufacturer of semiconductors, according to a Defense Department spokesperson.

The Department of Defense is in discussions over whether SMIC should be added to the Commerce Department's entity list, which essentially restricts those companies from receiving specific goods made in the U.S.

"DoD is currently working with the interagency in assessing available information to determine if SMIC's actions warrant adding them to the Department of Commerce's Entity List," a Defense Department spokesperson said. "Such an action would ensure that all exports to SMIC would undergo a more comprehensive review."

The administration's move is part of a continued effort to put pressure on China's technology firms and would mark a major escalation in the tech battle between the U.S. and China.

At the risk of this being a really dumb question is there a simple resource or site where you can plug in a symbol and get up to date reliable support and resistance numbers? Maybe with data on when those levels were hit? Obviously I know it can be seen off a chart but just wondering if there were other avenues to see this.

what level subscriber are you and what is the volume that makes it worthwhile. I get a bit frustrated with Fidelity Active trader pro's limitation on history or ability to dive into data easily.

I would really like to be able to double click on a daily candle and have it expand and see how that day traded. If that is possible.

I use ATP for execution because most of my money is at fidelity, including my managed account.I don't care for ATP and will probably move my swing / options account to TOS. I think ATP is the same for all customers.

On TOS, I funded a level 3 margin account to explore it. I like it better than ATP. I just use the free version of trading view, but maybe I'll pay sooner or later. I won't have as much time for options trading once my normal work routine resumes.

This is a weird time to be in Fortune 500 with everything virtual. Because everything is Zoom / WebEx, I can baby sit positions. When I have to be on the road or meeting with people face to face again, I will sadly not be able to contribute as much. I have really enjoyed being part of this community of investors and think you all are great.

It's kind of a pain in the ass for complicated trades like condors and iron flies. Verticals and garden variety put/call is easy. It absolutely sucks for research. I am finding myself using TOS for research and then swivel chairing to execute trades in ATP. That's how I know it's time to switch.
