I'd be willing to bet it was filled but the confirmation wasn't sent or what not. Don't be surprised to find out your order was filled when you call them.

I am not suggesting the folks on this board. Just the entire situation. There is not an enemy on the planet that could hurt the US as much as have just hurt ourselves. Incredible.

What would you have done differently?

It just broke that an official from the CAA basketball tournament has tested positive. Everyone already knows about the two Jazz players. If the games were played (even with no fans) it would be inevitable that many players, officials, coaches, and media would contract this virus - and yes, some would die.

This is my favorite time of the year. I am incredibly sad. But this is far from dumb at this point. Dumb would be being in a building with tens of thousands of people from all over the place while a massively contagious virus is spreading and not a single person in the world is vaccinated against it.

There is certainly a lot of economic harm being done but cancelling events, closing Disney Land, etc has become the only option.

Is this virus worse than the various strains of avian flu or swine flu viruses? We have been holding sporting events indoors during flu season for decades.

The hysteria is fuel by the thought that getting the virus is a death sentence. It is not. To be honest, we need time to collect more data to prove this out. Hopefully sanity will return when the story becomes "a lot of people got it but the death rate is dropping."

didn't we say that yesterday? I got the dip on roku today, but damn, AH still bleeding. and what in the hell are you shorting? DIS and ROKU be dumping.

This is insanity and over a flu that has less than .5% mortality rate?

No toilet paper today at grocery stores in B/CS, I then quickly checked the beer aisle (all good there!). People's priorities are all wrong! LOL

The fear is in the speculation. Can't know mortality within any degree of certainty when they're saying things like influenza deaths from January in Seattle tested positive as corona.

Once the numbers harden, good or bad, a lot of the fear will die down. Then when anti virals and vaccines start testing, were on the way to the moon again.

Out of curiosity, did anyone not near retirement age actually pull their money out of the market during this pullback in their retirement accounts? I personally never touch mine as I have 20+ years to go but looking at the balance, man I wish I would have!

I told my wife I wanted to go all cash after a nice 30% run to start the year bc I was expecting a correction.

Didn't do it, and am obviously down huge haha.

I'm in my 30s and kept mine in. I buy a set amount of VTSAX every Friday and will tomorrow as well. I'm more excited about the bargain I'm getting and how much it will grow for 30 years than I am worried about how much I've lost in the past couple weeks.

I'm one of the morons that went mostly cash from 2009 onwards after getting burned (worked in banking and HF industry at the time so deep scars!). Kept investing in 401Ks but all else went to cash and hard money lending. Was let go in December and fortunately rolled 401ks to a new money manager and mine was all cash in January, wife's was not rolled over so hers was invested.

I've learned and have a different mindset now. Hopefully will be able to take advantage here and come out in good shape when ready to retire down the road.

Good luck to all and don't forget you can't take it with you.

I'm 46 and actually tried to fully fund both Roth's today ($12k). Haven't pulled anything but I'm sweating it. Function of age. Had a plan to retire at 55 and right now that isn't looking good to say the least. . First world problems on that one.

I've already moved on from that and frankly fretting job security if this goes on much longer.

Just had a really hard talk with my own dad that didn't end well for either of us. He's 100% long in stocks this entire time, retired, and doesn't know how's he doing other than losing more money than I could imagine in the last three weeks. I teared up a little.

He's not wealthy by any stretch but does well enough. We've been talking about the market everyday last three weeks and bouncing ideas off each other and advice on what to do.

He's such an intelligent and good man, but I cannot believe what he told me.

I am truly sorry to hear that. I confirmed with my parents today they were in a conservative position and they said they were conservative enough. They also have real estate they live off of so that helps.

I also know my mom though. She's a bit of a gambler so I know they aren't as conservative as they probably should be.
