Answer to 2) is that you can exercise an option you own at ANY time, regardless of current price.

Some of you O&G guys talk me out of taking a long position in USO and just sitting on it for a few years.

Why not RDS/A or RDS/B? Collect that 10%+ annual dividend and price appreciation.
+1 - once oil rebounds it will sit around 50-60 most of the time with the odd spike up to 70 (when I sell)

My USO question was based on a speculative move that could triple.

But, it's interesting to see the bullish comments on RDS, as opposed to XOM and CVX, as the long term preference in O&G. Not sure you could go wrong with any of the big boys. Just wondering why you guys are piling on RDS as opposed to the other two?

Well for one, RDS is the least exposed of those three to US Shale (trust me on this...).

Shell also has some decent renewable energy assets. Plus I think that them being Dutch and not overly exposed to shale is a good thing.

Obviously meant 145. Anyone know what the 145 weekly BA calls will be worth? In the money now
should open around 2.5 if the current price held.
Sold my 2 for 5.10 this morning. Nice little 800$ on a Friday

Took 75% MOMO extra shares off the table above $24.60.

Understand that it's right at breakout and although I guaranteed $25 on anyone buying during the ridiculous overselling I see MOMO as a JD type opportunity. How's that JD doing?

Been looking at this based on your posts and started easing into a position this morning
Sold my position on VST again just now. Long term you'd be good to hold, but I just don't trust the market right now. 4th swing trade on it for profit so far.

I've needed end of week selloffs for 3 weeks in a row (incl today) and the last two fridays it didn't happen.

PDT - Pattern Day Trader Rules Question:

I understand it's 4 or more pattern day trades within a 5 day period. What exactly constitutes a pattern day trade? I get if I buy a stock/option in the morning and sell it that same day. But do the PDT rules extend to "before the trade has settled" too?

Example 1:
Buy Call option on 4/16
Option is technically still Pending on 4/17 since its 1 day settlement (stock is 2-3 days right?)
On 4/18 (theoretically market is open) allowed to sell easy no problems.

Example 2 (PDT):
Buy Call option 4/16
Sell Call option on 4/16
*** Counts towards the PDT rules

Example 3:
Buy Call option 4/16
Option is still Pending on 4/17, but I sell it this day.
*** Not sold on same day so does this avoid PDT rule.... am I thinking of another rule about not selling anything before its settlement date?

I found this while reading up on it...

Based on my understanding, you are ok in Example 3 bc you held the position over night.

you're thinking of good faith violations, which I think only applies to cash accounts
be careful on the pdt though. On RH you don't get locked out after the 4th day trade in 5 days. That 4th trade triggers it and you can no longer day trade for 90 days

Thank you!

ETA - That's the best article I've seen regarding PDT, easiest to follow. So in case anyone cares, it turns out my "Settlement" worry is in regards to Reg T. You can sell a security anytime without worry to Reg T if it's paid for with settled cash. But if you sold a security, had unsettled cash and then bought another security, you violate Reg T if you sell new security before settlement date.

ETA2 - Thanks NRD that's it!

Sorry gents - everybody carry on!

Net free on daily GILD 83P. What's your sell point? I'm thinking $5 as a reasonable max ($78 stock price). That would give me a bit over 100% return on total initial investment. I may put a limit sell at $4 and then watch these to sell earlier if they stagnate a bit here.
