No insight, but I would think Chevron would hold off until Oxy has paid down the Anadarko debt off their balance sheet.
Most of the debt is gone. Or at least they are at a point where its no longer a priority. They don't even talk about it on their calls. A year ago it was all they would talk about. Focus now is on share repurchases.


I haven't been following it closely, but I think those are one and the same here. Buffett opted to convert his debt to stock and Oxy opted to dilute shares to pay him in stock. So share buybacks are basically the means of paying off the debt that everyone took on via share dilution.

Again, this is just me hazily remembering following the story on Twitter a year ago.

Oct 27th - I bought them when it had dipped to $222ish and then the run back up back is when I bought the puts. Just wanted to secure my gains and hedge.

But I was just hoping for a fat dividend payment announced come earnings at the end of the month.

I agree. COP to CVX would be the mega mega deal and wouldn't surprise me to see CVX try.

That said, I don't think Lance is humble enough to sell unless his board forces him.

What is the likelihood of DOJ pushing back hard against these acquisitions? Biden Administration has been fairly hostile to large M&A in other industries. They have lost a lot in the courts though.

Not sure if Daddy Warren would approve but Oxy and Chevron merger would be a nice fit. Focus on O&G obviously but the DAC portion would make people happy.

All I can do is sit back and laugh at PXD. Karma is coming and I love it. Used to work for them, laid off back in 2019, then as a contractor and let go again. Fck'em and I hope most of the a**holes get laid off. PXD was a shell of its self since the layoffs.

Agreed. I don't think EOG will sell. For the reason you mention and their equity is priced quite high so there's not really a motivation.
