I was all aboard the DeRo train as well before we hired Espada. And i was down on him as well after the WBC. But the more I think about it, the more I wonder how funky the WBC is and how it's a completely different deal than an MLB season. It's hard when you have so many different parties with interests and you have to manage all of that. And he's so good on the MLB Network and seems like he'd be awesome. Of course, I could just be comparing him to Espada, in which case anybody would seem like a massive improvement.

Pena for Arias would have been a nice reset at SS for the next 6 years.

It may be hindsight but he's also saying folks wanted to be sellers but didn't voice that because Crane is/was opposed and they feared for their jobs.

Astros won their division, who cares if it's a weak division. I'd rather have another flag for 2026 than to miss out and never have had chance in the playoffs at all

Very underrated ball player

If we trade Pena, and we don't get a big league shortstop in the deal or another deal, I hope we sign him.

I miss that dude. He's been pretty special for the Braves this year. Happy for him.

I like Blum and he's very sharp but I don't think he has the attitude to be a good manager.

He seems super laid back too a point I think he's too fun (for lack of a better word) to be a good manager.

Maybe he's got a switch but I don't know. Acumen is there but maybe not the right personality.

Machete with player coaches in Tuve and Correa is my dream. We lacked heart and discipline this year in my opinion.

We can agree to disagree. Too early to start bickering. My opinion is that we made a bunch of cap room and as you said needed a couple of pieces to be truly competitive. If we were going to do that path and not trade Pena or any other players we will be losing soon. We needed to make those moves and spend the money. Not doing anything (other than the laughable Varsho catastrophe) was the worst possible path. Just getting to the playoffs as the worst division winner ever is nothing to crow about and losing in two at home without being competitive was embarrassing.

Two years from now, the only people who are going to remember we got swept this postseason are Astros fans and ChiSox fans.

Another division title is always better than no division title in the records.
