If he misses any games Fox will 100% treat this like a funeral and the dodgers are going to win "in honor and memory of Shohei"

They might even hold up his jersey in the lineup introduction and play a Celine Dion song

Dodgers are known for tradition and not so much for being forward thinking or original.

That said, having Cube start it off was glorious and very much unexpected for this lifelong Dodgers fan. Baseball has always been a but too stuffy. I love seeing the bat flips and outward displays of raw emotion from the players.

I feel old being that guy, but the production is just so overdone now. It feels forced to me. I'm not mad about it but just creates more eye rolls than anything from me. It works with football and basketball, but baseball is just different, for me anyway.

Bat flips and emotions are fine.
The non-stop dancing at 1B after every single is getting old.
Not sure how these guys play with 9 gold chains around their neck.
Give me the old school playoff format also.

so what you're saying is they won 20 of them when there were only 12 teams in all of MLB and they hit apples instead of real baseballs?

Pretty ugly slide too. Acted like he had no awareness of where the ball was coming from based on how the catcher setup.

It doesn't matter a whole lot, but it is actually 8 (62, 77, 78, 96, 98, 99, 00, 09). While your context IS important, 8 is still impressive nonetheless (and I'm as far from a Yankee fan as one could be). The Cardinals, in that time frame, have 5; the A's and Sox 4 each; a couple of teams with 3. And the Dodgers should wrap up their 6th (albeit with 2020 -- if you want to asterisk that) in a day or two. Not to mention their 6 WS losses in the same time frame (Yankees also have 6, going on 7, pennants).

Reminiscent of the 2022 ALCS. A lot of close games that dont feel as competitive and I thought there was no way that series would go less than six games.
