That's a good point, but I'm ok with it this year given how messed up we are by injuries.

Scoreboard watching:

Celtics up 3-0 over the Pacers. G4 at 7pm tonight.
Mavs up 3-0 over the TWolves.

If you watched the post-game... that was one of the most eviscerating calling out of a player that I've ever seen. KAT was completely destroyed. If you missed it... you should find it and watch it. I've been impressed with Chuck, Shaq, and the others. KAT went 0-8 in 3ptrs.
"It is unacceptable to go 0-8."
"Once you go 0-2, you probably ought to change something."
KAT said he takes 1500 shots.
"He lying."
"It takes 30-45mins to take 300. Let's pretend he too 1500. That's 2.5 hrs. Maybe that's your problem."
"He should be on the (postgame) podium. He dodged the postgame interview."
Shaq: "He should be upset, but he isn't. Maybe that's why he has been swept in so many series."

I think NBA teams up 3-0 are like 162-0. Should be a great finals.

G3 Stars at Edmonton 7:30 Series 1-1
NYR up 2-1 over Florida.

I really like the way the NBA and NHL aligned the playoffs allowing the Mavs and Stars to play on alternating nights. The ice in Edmonton is fast... should be a very intense and fast-paced game.

Rangers off today. Still in 2nd place. When you have a nobody from a men's league in Santiago, Chile, come in and give you 3.1, 2H, 1 ER, 84PC as a SP... that ought to be a gut-check moment for some players. He was likely signed for like $10K in December (can't find an official amount) to come audition at Spring Training. Now finds himself making $700K +/-, or so while he is up with the club.

Players in Winter Leagues generally make about $10K/month.

An overrated, soft 7-footer who called himself the greatest shooting big man of all time and then went 0-8 from 3 as Dirk watched and laughed.

Didn't the T wolves just give him a 300 mill extension?

I don't think quite that much, but he will be making over $60 million in 27-28.

People who would know more than me say the humidity in Dallas causes the ice to be a little more slushy.

Actually... yes. There is quite a bit of science in it.

Edmonton has always been considered one of the best, in terms of ice.

Look at ice cubes. If you boil water to make ice in your freezer, the ice will be more clear than if you just use room temperature water. You get rid of impurities.

The Stars put up curtains on the entrances to keep the temperature in the arena colder to keep a colder surface temperature. Ice melts quicker outside in Texas than it does inside... and so room temperature impacts the softness of ice.

Compactness... because AAC is a multi-use facility, they have to change for basketball and then back to an ice rink. Edmonton only uses it for hockey, so the ice gets compacted by use over and over.

Humidity is another issue. Think about the condensation on the outside of a glass.

Edmonton is relaltively cold, especially in Winter, it is a hockey only facility, and the humidity is usually pretty low, it allows them to be more consistent with having great ide.

It means the puck scoots along the ice better and doesn't bounce as much. Pucks are vulcanized rubber. It impacts passes and how the puck may bounce with a "saucer pass" where the player elevates the puck slightly.

In the '90s and early '00s, Dallas was considered to have very poor ice. They done quit a bit to improve the ice, but I think adding teams in Tampa, Florida have helped it not be the worst.

Good luck.

With school out, our Attendance is going to jump.

We're averaging 31,433 vs 31,272 in '23.

Weekday games this year are at about 25-27K. That has brought down our average. With Summer, I expect us to be closer to 35K during the week, especially as we continue to win.

Decades ago, the Rangers relied on about 7-10K walk-up customers to games, when they averaged 20K and had like 15K STH.

Not sure the numbers now... I'd expect STHs to be around 20-23K

I don't watch much basketball since the Miami/Mavs Finals.

So, I missed it... probably explains why they were so harsh.

I'm not going to claim to be a critic or NBA expert.

He was 4-12 in the post-season coming into the season and about to get swept.

Dayman Greene's comment about him spending 2.5 hrs shooting with Shaq's comments about losing playoff's series probably was rooted in the idea that maybe he should spend more time helping Ant and the team win, as opposed to just getting his shots.

You are missing out. Two of the best teams the metroplex has seen (at least since February, in the Mavs' case). We are talking about a top 3 Mavs team ever.

I went to a Stars game in 2001 because I got free tickets. Got a date with a hottie radiology tech and was rocking the first fitted Aggie cap (like $40) that I had ever found in my size (7-7/8). Good times were sure to be had! I tried my best to figure out what was going on with my very enthusiastic date attempting to explain it all, and then Brett Hull scored his 3rd goal of the game. Suddenly everybody is taking their caps off and throwing them towards the ice. My date actually reached up to "help" me take mine off and so I grabbed it back and tucked it safely away. Conversation more or less ceased to exist and between my date's sudden mute status & the stink eye coming from everyone else, I found myself to be a lonely man. She told me straight up after the game that she couldn't see having a relationship with "someone who couldn't have a good time", so our first date was the last.

But I still have that cap and met my wife about 3 weeks later. She doesn't care for hockey so I never pursued my fandom any further...

TLDR - hockey wasn't good to me the only time I tried it

Quick Langford update from today's Scott Lucas email. There has been some talk of him being activated for Tuesday's game:

Quote:

Wyatt Langford was 0-3 but hit the ball hard twice including one that might have left some parks other than Sugar Land. While he's hitting only .200 with a walk in four rehab games, the deeper stats recall his rapid rise through the system last year: 50% hard-hit rate, only one miss in 23 swings

The odds of the Stars and Mavs both being in this position are really slim. Personally, I think an exception is ok. Exciting times for local fans!
