A few things.
First, I'm for the Dodgers.
The backloading contract is why it is sometimes hard for me to want them to win.
If you look at the bulk of players from the '70s, when I grew up watching them, they were almost all homegrown. The whole infield - Yeager (4; '67), Garvey (1.13; '68), Lopes (2, '68), Cey (3; '68), Russell (9, '66). Then, you had Doug Rau (1, '70). That's when I think they are the best.
4 NL ROY in a row: '79-82 (Sutcliffe, Howe, Valenzuela,Sax)
5 NL ROY in a row: (Karros, Piazza, Mondesi, Nomo, Hollandsworth)
Having said that, here is another rub... They really exploited the Int'l Draft:
https://www.truebluela.com/2016/6/15/11951878/yordan-alvarez-contract-dodgers-cuba-international-signing-periodCrazy...Yordan Alvarez was a throw-away that went to the Astros.
I think AJ Alexy was the key to the Darvish trade. He just never developed. And Brendan Davis.
Last point.. in 2020, I bought WS tickets and got to go to all but 1. We went to many of the playoff games because well, going to the WS regardless of who is playing, IMO, is special. It was pretty cool.
