It'll probably never happen, but there needs to be some sort of an accountability system for umpires. Scherzer had some interesting comments a month or two ago. Come up with a ranking system, and then take say the bottom 5% (or whatever amount) and send them to AAA. Then give some of the AAA umps a shot at the MLB level. There may have been more to it, but there needs to be a way to deal with the Angel Hernandez type situations. Obviously the Umpires Union just protects their own. But they are a strong union and they always get their way, so it seems.
