I'll be watching game 1 with beer in hand on Friday. This team has surpassed all odds and then some. Team should be loose and ready to roll.

I don't really have a preference on opponent, but part of me wants the Phillies just because it would be a big market northeast team (plus **** Philly).

Game 1 starter has to be Eovaldi, right? Can't see going with Monty after throwing 2.1 last night. Let him go game 2.
I'd say Eovaldi, Scherzer, Monty. They might give Monty extra rest since he pitched on 2 days rest. If we are 1-1 or 2-0 going into Game 3, Monty is an absolute assassin on the road. Then we get him for Game 7 if we need it.

A baseball weighs 143g. Travelling at 104 mph (46 m/s), the kinetic energy is 151kg*m^2/s^2.

A .45 bullet weighs 14.9g. Travelling at 830 ft/s (252 m/s), the kinetic energy is 473 kg*m^2/s^2.

Yeah, that's gonna leave a mark. It takes a full grown man in the prime of life not to immediately crumple there.
To be fair, most bullets are going to go faster than 830ft/s.

I think you have to get Monty game 2 to start the rest to get back as early as needed in case we need him to start a game 6. He will have plenty of rest for game 2. Should see the same rotation as Houston series but with Eovaldi and Monty flipped.

My bet is they'll start him G2, but I've been wrong before.

Will be interested to see how Scherzer does. Seemed like he would've pitched longer last night if it wasn't an all-hands-on-deck game 7. And if we play the Phillies he definitely has more familiarity against them than he does any of the AL opponents we faced.

Yep. He was a little better, not great, but did enough considering our early offense. The Alvarez triple is a lazy pop fly in 28 of 30 parks. Otherwise it's 4-2, 2 outs in the 3rd, and he probably gets into the 4th.

I think he's going to be a beast in his next start.

Would Rangers-D-Backs be the networks' biggest fear as far as ratings go? I can't imagine they wouldn't have VASTLY preferred the Philadelphia/Houston markets, right?

The D-backs seem less scary, but the Rangers have won 12 straight over the Phillies, which I believe is the longest current streak in baseball.

Dallas market is bigger than Houston in terms of eyeballs. You can argue that more people nationally would hate-watch the Astros-Phillies since it's two fanbases most people despise. Rangers have proven they can hold their own in terms of TV sets.

Either way, the markets are big:

Philly: 4
DFW: 5
Houston: 8
Phoenix: 11

Wow. Haven't heard a peep today from my Astros friends or colleagues. And they're usually so loud. How weird.
Being in a group text thread that is about half Rangers fans and Astros fans. The Astros trash talk has been unending the past month (since the division was lost). Post-Game5 it reached maximum level. It was awful.

Last night after the win the only thing sent out was a single gif of Adolis by one of the Ranger fans.

The silence that the gif has been met with has been absolutely beautiful. Complete silence. Amazing.

Just a reminder of the sacrifice I made for last night's game.

A sacrifice I will NOT make on Friday.

I've attended two WS games in my life. Game 5 - 2010 at BiA and Game 7 - 2019 at MMP. In both instances the home team lost and I watched another team celebrate the World Series. Both in free tickets from a buddy who used to work in baseball. Chris Young could offer me seats in his box for a game in this series and I wouldn't go.

Trash talking by fans is the most pathetic thing I can think of. You didn't pitch, you didn't hit, what the f are YOU bragging about? You did nothing more than put on a shirt. And that somehow instilled within you the thought that you are my superior because the logo on your shirt won a game that neither of us participated in? The absolute epitome of pathetic and cringeworthy.

What a magical season. Game 5 sucked but the fact that we came back and destroyed them on their home field in back to back games makes this feel so much sweeter. I can't believe the Astros lost 4 games at home this series… in the postseason…. AGAIN. Dynasties don't do that. I don't care how many straight LCS's you've been to. Winning 3 WS in 6 years is a dynasty (Giants). That fan base ego is out of control and the fact that they hate Dusty with such a passion even though he brought them their only legitimate title is so delusional. It really brings home the fact that whatever head coach wins a title at A&M will immediately have his head on the chopping block the moment the team starts to struggle a little bit because half the fan base will suddenly think we're Bama.

Now for the winning team. This team's mental resilience is something else. You can tell they really want this and Bochy in October is just… awesome. One of the greatest October mangers ever. I don't agree with the toxic hate the Astros have for Dusty but Bochy absolutely out managed Baker last night and I'd take Bochy over either manager in the NLCS.

I don't know which team I'd rather face in the WS but what I do know is if we play like we did these last 2 games it doesn't matter, we're going to win.

I know we're all on the high of beating Houston to take the AL pennant, and you gotta celebrate the good moments when they happen, but man I want this World Series so bad. In my opinion it's the hardest championship to win in all of sports and you NEVER know when you're going to get this chance again. I want to finally be able to put 2011 to rest in my head.
I just wanted to verify that Nellie Cruz is indeed still retired...right?
I believe you are correct. I feel so bad for Nelly sometimes. Had an incredible 2011 ALCS and career with the Rangers, and we all still can't get over that one play.

I'm fine with the good natured stuff, but the Texags stuff gets way out of hand. Then it moves to the same regurgitated arguments over and over as to why one better than the other. That's why I don't even click on the "trash talk" threads. You aren't going to change anybody's mind or convince anyone of anything.

Of course, it could also be that I'm just getting old and cranky

I agree. She very much seems like one of us. Hard not to love this team. I was down and out at least 5 times this season thinking there's no way we could make a deep run. They pulled me back in every time.

Phillies please. My wife is a huge D Backs fan and we live in Tempe, so I couldn't watch the games at my house or at any bar.

Our marriage would be tested, to say the least. We barely survived the Mavs-Suns series of 2021.

Come on dude. You're comparing a weak ground ball to a guy that was a marginal hitter vs. a laser off the wall. Cruz had 8 home runs and 16 RBI in the playoffs. He and Hamilton carried this team.

Other than getting caught for juice, I've got nothing but love for Cruz.
