slumps most often started on the road. They been really patient with Max, not rushing him back the way they did with Eovaldi. Yordan can't do much damage if you keep the bases empty. And who do you think has the greater possibility of turning in 5-6 dominant innings, Max or Javier?

The only 2 previous MLB teams to EVER win 7 playoff games in a row (that I've found) were the '76 Big Red Machine and the '98 Yankees.

One thing in common.

Phew, just caught up on the thread. That was a high intensity game. I will no doubt be continuing the practice of not opening the thread and not posting once the next game starts.

I don't see 2015 happening. For one, it was a 5 game set. For another, Game 2 went 14 innings, so we barely got out of Toronto up 2-0. Finally, we had only finished the season 4-5 so we weren't exactly on a run.

We're far more like the Mets that year (same record), who swept the Cubs in the NLCS, though they lost the series to KC. Hopefully the latter doesn't transpire.
Also Bochy is 100x better manager than Banister.

I didn't get to watch until the 7th inning yesterday and I'm just now getting caught up to the thread.

I've just gotta say, I'm proud of the team for the way they've played. But, we seem to get a bunch of runs early and then make the other teams pitchers look good. We did it in games 2 and 3 against Baltimore and we did it against Houston yesterday. I'm not sure how to remedy that but as long as we get up early and don't give up the lead, we'll be in good shape.

It's playoff baseball. These teams have great arms starting and in the pen.

Leody almost scored a few times, but Semien dropped the ball in both opportunities.

The hard luck double play to Bregman and striking out in the 9th without at least moving Leody over. If he moved Leody over, the Seager ground out would've given a huge insurance run, but thankfully it wasn't needed.

Seager got himself out a few times being over aggressive on full counts when they were clearly trying to avoid him and giving him nothing to hit at all.

Garcia and Jung looked terrible after the first 3 innings. It looked like they threw caution to the wind and went head hunting swinging at every pitch.

I think we have a habit of getting away from working the count as much once we get a healthy lead.

Jung right now is a pretty easy out.

And it also doesn't help that Bochy insists on Grossman in the 3 hole. I've said before I'm perfectly fine with Grossman hitting against lefties and the move to go to Carter once Astros went to the pen worked out beautifully.

Just don't bat him 3rd.

He's 2 for 16 in the playoffs. 8K's. "Oh but he sees the ball well" -- 1 walk.

He offers zero in the way of protection for Seager. If you're going to have him in the lineup, put him behind a guy who is struggling to actually get on.

Other than that I've been pretty happy with Bochy. I liked the move last night with Leclerc. Mind you I don't have a lot of faith whatsoever in Leclerc, but once Chapman gave up the homerun I liked the quick hook.

I really think the called strike on that slider that was a ball in game 1 messed with Jung. He had been spitting on balls out of the zone all night to that point. After that he was back to swing and miss on low and away. Hope he can get dialed back in.

We need to get run vs the Astros bullpen. They are good but going 6 innings without scoring a run almost cost us. It just can't happen. We really needed to find a way to get Taveras home.

That rocket right to bregman was unfortunate because that had double written on it for Semien. And then you had Seager up with 1 out.

Props to our pitching staff though.. they've successfully mitigated Alvarez. He's hit a couple bombs but unless I'm mistaken, has stuck out the one or two times he's had runners on and only done damage with the bases empty. Just gotta keep it up, we're halfway there

Yep. Houston is more than capable reeling off four straight wins by 5+ runs. With this bullpen, anything is possible.

I'd still put this series in the 50/50 tossup category.

It's probably more like 70/30 at this point.

But if someone came up to you and said, "hey, there's a 30 percent chance you'll get in a car wreck tomorrow", you're probably gonna make sure you buckle up.

Oh come on. Up 2-0 it is not 50-50. We aren't out of the woods, but it's at least 67-33 our way right now.

I'm honestly not interested in going back and forth with them afterwards if we continue winning. They continually show their class, we don't need to show our asses like they do everyday.

A lot of baseball to be played. A key hit here or there and this could be 2-0 the other way. But coming home I like the chances for this team to finish it off.

A key hit here or there and we could have 15 total runs and not have played a close game yet.

With a healthy Scherzer, sure. We have no idea whether he'll make it out of the first inning without hurting himself. Then we are throwing bullpen in Game 4. If we can somehow take either Game 3 or 4 we will be in an amazing position of having Monty and Evo going in Games 5 and 6.

With Eovaldi and Montgomery pitching the way they are and the bullpen pitching as well as they are, I think the odds are much better than 50/50 especially considering the Astros have to win 4 in a row.

Far from over. Fact is we now have a 3 game series at home and anything other than getting swept puts us in the World Series or our competitor on the verge of golfing.

It's a best of 7 series. Winning 1 of 3 in Arlington isn't terrible but still sends us back to Houston needing 1 game.

If you go with the history of the LCS, the odds are 92%. The only time an 0-2 home team has stormed back was the Dodgers vs Braves in 2020. But that was COVID neutral field which was played at GLF so I'm not taking anything for granted. Go win game 3 and make the Astros do what only the Red Sox have done.

The only reason Framber made it out of the 1st Inning was because he got help from the Ump. I was only listening on the Radio, so I didn't see it, but from what they described Heim was rung-up on a foul-tip. Then, there was the mysterious equipment issue with the Ump. Slowed the inning down for Framber and did they give him a couple warm up pitches?! The TV broadcast showed he changed cleats between 1st and 2nd inning, so if he was struggling with his footing, the Umps injected themselves.

Anything Scherzer gives us is a bonus. Worst case scenario, Dunning and/or Heaney is his backup. A playoff bullpen game isn't the same as a regular season bullpen.

We have Heaney, Bradford, and Perez from the Left that can go 3-4 IP. We have Gray and Dunning that can go from the Right.

Then, we have Sborz, Chapman, and Leclerc that should all be fresh on Wednesday.

Is it irresponsible for Houston to allow Yordan in the dugout and to run the bases exposing the Rangers knowing he is battling a Virus? Or was that just a lie to diminish Monty's dominance of him? He seemed fine last night.

https://www.foxsports.com/stories/mlb/astros-slugger-yordan-alvarez-dealing-with-virus-in-lineup-for-alcs-game-2-vs-rangers

I'm old enough to remember the whole country getting shut down to prevent the spread of a virus, including wearing masks and socially distancing.
