OK, sorry. That wasn't very nice and I obviously don't mean it. But I peeked over on that thread. Man, are those folks insufferable. They truly think they're the Yankees, Cowboys, 49ers, Patriots, Celtics and Canadians combined. They've had a decent run with one tainted title and before that, well, even less to show for it than the Rangers. They're a decade older, too, so they ought to be a little farther along.

I'm embarrassed that some of those people are Aggies. And they have the nerve to compare Rangers fans to sips. That's just stupid. Sounds like very new Army (or a selected few) who has no idea what sips really are.

They are the most hated team in the league for a reason.

I would stay away from the trash talking thread and talking trash in general until we close this thing up. Last thing you want to do is talk trash and choke away a 2-0 lead. Just remain silent and soon enough they'll start arguing with each other.

So we looking for three from Scherzer and then Heaney?
Sending Scherzer out there is almost like an "F U, we have unlimited pitchers." I think Max needs this as much as the team. He seems like the type that would not feel good about winning without contributing.

Heaney and Dunning were up in the BP during G1. I don't think that would be more than just a mid rotation BP session, since the didn't get into the game.

Available, IMO:
Max (R), Heaney (L), Dunning (R)
I would be elated with 3 Scoreless from Max. Heaney or Perez for 3.

G4 would be Gray (R), backed by Perez (L)?
G5 - Monty, if Necessary

Max will have a pitch count, but they aren't going to pull him after three innings if he's getting outs. We don't have that luxury.
I think we do have the luxury.

We have Heaney and Perez sitting there begging for a chance to get IP. I have to believe either is available for 45-50 PC or 3.0 IP.

So, to clarify, there was a guy who posted after the game yesterday that said his wife was attacked by someone with an elbow, and by posting on the TA rivalry thread, the implication was that it was a Rangers fan that went to A&M, or at least post on here.

So, my comment was to make sure he and his wife made it home safely, because most don't believe his wife was attacked in the stairwell, yesterday. If she was, my apoligies, but you known... losing sucks and some people kick their dog.

Yeah Monty and Nate's performances have just opened this bullpen and pitching staff up to so many options. So much length to eat up innings if need be in that pen. With some setup men and a closer on fire right now.

It's a nice thing to have right now.

Anyone else a little worried about what we may get from max? hasn't pitched in over a month with no rehab starts. Remember evo when he got back with no rehab starts? Coupled with Max getting hyped, I just don't know what to expect.

I'm a huge Max fan as I also follow the Nats closely. I vote for game 6 world series sherzer!

Being up 2-0 I'm less worried than if we were down 0-2 or 1-1. If your plan was to go some combo of Heaney/Dunning like vs Baltimore, then give the ball to Max. If he ain't got it he ain't got it. Use that combo in game 3.

I'm no more worried on what we'll get from Max than I would be what we'd get from Heaney/Dunning.

Montgomery and Eovaldi are the only two starters that I'd be concerned taking a start away from. Everyone else is a crap shoot with Scherzer having the odds on his side at least.

This.

Houston plays MUCH better here than they do down there. I'm praying we get one at home. If we do, I think we win the series in 6 or 7. But it really wouldn't surprise me if Houston starts hitting like they usually do on the road, especially here. Beating them here at home has been almost impossible this season.

They have had some comeback wins against us that could be described as fluky or longshots. The pitchers they crushed and players we missed in some of those home series either won't be there now ( pitchers) or will be there now ( hitters).

Gotta figure out a way to contain Yordan. I know nobody can stop him, he's a beast, but just mitigate the damage. Hope garden gnome and tucker stay ice cold.

A few of our hitters have their kryptonite that the Astros are exposing. Jung cannot lay off breaking pitches low and away. I think he got 1, maybe 2 TOTAL fastballs all day today. Almost exclusively pitched him with curves, sliders, and sweepers away and out of the zone. And he struck himself out. And Adolis can't lay off the high heat out of the zone. Every now and then he will manage to get out in front of one and blast it. But too often he strikes himself out on balls near his eye level.

I've been very impressed with Leody this postseason. He has elevated his play. And Carter and Seager of course have been really good, too. Need more consistency from Semien at the top of the order.

Seems like in both games at Minute Maid, the lineup got a decent lead than went head hunting after bad pitches. Obese Framber still struck out 6 or 7 guys.

We had a total of only 1 or 2 hits after the 3rd inning today.

According to polling this summer, technically the third most hated team. The Dodgers and Yankees filled out the top. But those two teams have worldwide fan bases, whereas Houston just has Houston.

So I looked at our previous homestands against the Asstros this year.

In June, we played them at the end of the month following something like a 10-11 stretch. Obviously, not our best baseball then. We went 1-3 in the series and didn't play that much better the next week right before the break.

Early last month they swept us after we had already lost 13 of 16.

They've hit us at home at about our worst points of the season (had to have been, given the 90 wins). Not to say we should feel OVER confident as the series isn't anywhere near over, but I'd say the team playing this well should feel confident and not worry about previous results. Anyway, if they (Asses) are thinking they can waltz into Arlington and take 3 off the top (or even 2 out of 3), I'm not so sure.

Not that worried. Scherzer is a gamer. An amazing competitor. He's been there before. He's been throwing and looks and feels good. He will give us all he's got for a few innings and then some. You go with that every time.

We gotta at least get 1. Obviously the goal is to get 2. I wouldn't feel too bad going back to Minute Maid with 2 games to get 1 and assuming Verlander would be out of the picture after starting a game 5.

I am concerned about Max coming back from injury

Concerned about Houston's dominance on the road this year

Concerned about the existence of Yordan

Concerned we'll slump after a hot streak (like we did all season)

but I was also concerned about a repeat of 2015 in the ALDS, Carter not getting the start today, Monty pitching to Yordan, the bullpen usage, Nate loading the bases today, and a whole host of other things. Slowly I'm learning to trust playoff Bochy, I mean it has been 7 straight wins after all.

There are valid concerns to make note of going forward, but I'd guess that 99% of the ranger fan base is extremely pleased right now.

The majority of baseball fans in Texas and all over the country ( with the exception of Houston fans) would probably agree that we've had the most impressive post season run up to this point.

Either way, just enjoy being up 2-0 on the hated Astros and they can't do a damn thing about it until Wednesday night. We've also guaranteed that the Astros won't be celebrating any big accomplishments on our field or in our visitors locker room.

I know Astro fans on the other thread were relishing the thought of finishing up the series at our park, but it's just not a possibility now. The other way to look at it is we're guaranteed to go back to Minute Maid if needed where we are currently sporting a 2-0 record.

I don't see 2015 happening. For one, it was a 5 game set. For another, Game 2 went 14 innings, so we barely got out of Toronto up 2-0. Finally, we had only finished the season 4-5 so we weren't exactly on a run.

We're far more like the Mets that year (same record), who swept the Cubs in the NLCS, though they lost the series to KC. Hopefully the latter doesn't transpire.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
A lot of baseball to be played. A key hit here or there and this could be 2-0 the other way. But coming home I like the chances for this team to finish it off.
