Is it irresponsible for Houston to allow Yordan in the dugout and to run the bases exposing the Rangers knowing he is battling a Virus? Or was that just a lie to diminish Monty's dominance of him? He seemed fine last night.

I'm old enough to remember the whole country getting shut down to prevent the spread of a virus, including wearing masks and socially distancing.

We've patched it together in the pen. The 8th is so shaky right now with Chapman. Imagine if Will Smith hadn't fallen completely off. Also I know he struggled at the end but is Stratton hurt? He was our go to guy after the trade and the bullpen was in shambles.

I'd still put this series in the 50/50 tossup category.

It's probably more like 70/30 at this point.

But if someone came up to you and said, "hey, there's a 30 percent chance you'll get in a car wreck tomorrow", you're probably gonna make sure you buckle up.
With a healthy Scherzer, sure. We have no idea whether he'll make it out of the first inning without hurting himself. Then we are throwing bullpen in Game 4. If we can somehow take either Game 3 or 4 we will be in an amazing position of having Monty and Evo going in Games 5 and 6.
The only reason Framber made it out of the 1st Inning was because he got help from the Ump. I was only listening on the Radio, so I didn't see it, but from what they described Heim was rung-up on a foul-tip. Then, there was the mysterious equipment issue with the Ump. Slowed the inning down for Framber and did they give him a couple warm up pitches?! The TV broadcast showed he changed cleats between 1st and 2nd inning, so if he was struggling with his footing, the Umps injected themselves.

Anything Scherzer gives us is a bonus. Worst case scenario, Dunning and/or Heaney is his backup. A playoff bullpen game isn't the same as a regular season bullpen.

We have Heaney, Bradford, and Perez from the Left that can go 3-4 IP. We have Gray and Dunning that can go from the Right.

Then, we have Sborz, Chapman, and Leclerc that should all be fresh on Wednesday.

Looking at the hits (seeing eye from Semien and a jam shot bloop from Seager) we got in the 1st, I'm quite pleased we got any runs in that inning.

Fortunately Framber took his eye off the ball trying to seen if he had a chance at the double play on Grossman's swinging bunt. He pitched well, but unfortunately for him, he has to field too.

Blame ump cam for the equipment thing. The umps mask strap came undone and took forever to fix.

The foul tip that should've been a foul ball of was straight bull*****

Missing the call is one thing. Missing it and being so cocky to refuse to ask the other umps if they saw it is total BS and showcases the frustrations people have with MLB umpires.

He's lucky we won or that would be a big storyline.

Really good question on Stratton.

Too bad. I thought it was the Monty-Virus. New variant last a day, but you could experience a follow-on case 4-5 days later.

We won the first 2 games, but I was very disappointed with the umpires performance in both games. I would honestly give them a grade of a D.

All the missed calls seemed to benefit the Astros and legitimately slow us down.

As bad as the missed foul tip was, getting that free timeout to gather himself from the ump gear breaking was....interesting. He definitely got to throw warm up pitches but I imagine that must be some sort of rule thats established for that scenario

If you go with the history of the LCS, the odds are 92%. The only time an 0-2 home team has stormed back was the Dodgers vs Braves in 2020. But that was COVID neutral field which was played at GLF so I'm not taking anything for granted. Go win game 3 and make the Astros do what only the Red Sox have done.
And Boston did it in 2004 (which you even referenced)

Point is no true home team has come back from 0-2 in any LCS.

The Red Sox are the only team to come back from an 0-3 hole

So both games the umps have favored the Astros. Weird considering all I've been told is how much the mlb front office hates the stros. Those 2 wins are beyond impressive for us. We are winning in ways we usually do not in the biggest games of the season. Very close games with the bullpen having to clutch up and having to play against bad officials. We haven't even won a game in a fashion we normally do this series. Impressive stuff.

It will decrease once the Rangers go up 3-0 in the series. Fake Astros fans will jump off the bandwagon at that point and go back to watching Baylor and tsip football

People want to see them lose. I bet it sees an uptick. Keep in mind, Sunday night football was also going on during game 1 and ratings were still that high.

I mean you have the majority of sports fans in the 2nd most populated state in America tuning in...if it was all Astros hate you would've seen it in the other 5 ALCS trips post cheating scandal.

I've always seen officiating in any sport favor "stars" like Verlander or Michael Jordan and less about the team that person plays for.

How long will it be until Umpiring will be directed by electronic technology...similar to tennis There are no line judges anymore, all computers.

I could see an Umpire hanging out behind the catcher like normal, but he has a device in his hand, or goggles, etc. that tells him Strike or Ball.

If I'm interpretting this...
Replacing NYY (2022) to Texas (2023) there was a 28% increase in viewership?

2010's benchmark of 8.11M was driven by Rangers even though most probably thought it was the Yankees.

'10: Texas v NYY
'11: Texas v Detroit
'12: NYY v Detroit
'13: Bos v Detroit
'14: KC v Baltimore
'15: KC v Toronto
'16: Cle v Toronto
'17: Houston v NYY
'18: Houston v Boston
'19: Houston v NYY
'20: Covid
'21: Houston v Boston
'22: Houston v NYY

Maybe the Boston and NYY market isn't all that they pretend it to be. Maybe it's just a social place to go, but nobody really cares otherwise.

All those years without the Rangers and viewership is book-ended with peaks by the Rangers.
