Rotating catchers is really important. When Garver went down and they were playing Heim 5-6 games in a row before a day off, he began to slump. The perfect amount for a catcher is probably starting three games in a row and then getting a day or so off.

I'd imagine as soon as Gray is done Duran/ Garver will pinch hit for Leon.

I think this is an good point and one that I agree with in terms of the post deGrom injury/trade for a pitcher discussion.

Re the talk about the Rangers trading for a starter with deGrom now out…unless you are getting a guy who would start twice in a seven game series, I don’t see the point.

They don’t need just a guy.

But they could very much use a legit 1/2/3 guy.

Completely agree which is why I brought up guys like Ohtani, Bieber, Cease, Giolito. Should make for an exciting deadline.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rangers dip into the prospect ranks pretty heavily to get some guys either. Depending on who you are trading for, the only for sure guy who is untouchable is Evan Carter. I think everyone else is on the board in some capacity, including Leiter (not sure how valuable he is anyways), Porter, White, Acuña, Foscue, etc. They obviously won't get rid of all of their young pitching, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them trade a few of them. Rocker having TJ really hurts here too.

Think it all boils down to what the opposing team needs/ values. Only prospect for me that is untouchable is Carter and I'd really like to hold on to Acuna but I could get over it. Still not sold on Leiter but he's increased his value recently. Sucks that Winn/ White have totally killed their value this season.

Yeah. Rocker effectively doesn't exist for trades. He wouldn't bring enough value back to make it worth not just waiting to see how he recovers.

The way this year has gone so far, who would be untouchable really depends on who we'd be getting and how we're looking next month.

With Acuba, he is blocked position wise unless he moves to OF or is a utility IF. Can't really take him off the table if he is needed to make a trade work.

I'm not saying I wouldn't trade him. Would definitely ship him for a TORP if that gets the deal done. Just would love to hold on to him if possible.

Blown opportunity there. I like that we're taking a lot of pitches though. Last night they seemed to swing at too many out of the zone.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think you can trade a player who is on the IL. I know that used to be the rule, assuming it still is.

It probably still is. Wasn't thinking about that. So a moot point anyway.
