Should have Hakeem do the first pitch. Cuz we need some Clutch City tonight.

I always thought this was year to bring Rudy T in for the first pitch at some point, given that we are trying to repeat

A tradition like no other... Mike Trout attending NFL games in October instead of playing in baseball games.
Mike Trout has to just not care, right? The The The Angels Angels have been so bad for the entirety of his career and he has just continued to stay on the roster and get paid to not win anything except some MVPs. Never so much as a whisper as to whether he was calling for any kind of change or trade or anything. Is his contract that iron-clad? $426.5 milly is a lot of money but damn.

Since he joined the team in 2012 they've had three winning seasons and made the playoffs once where they were promptly swept by the Royals.

Sorry to hear. Let us know if you need anything or if we can help at all.

As someone who's been laid off twice it's pretty tough but at least for me both times it worked out better in the end and I found myself in better situations when the dust settled.

Keep your head up and reach out if you need to.

Junior year at A&M, watched that, and then watched the Ags beat the piss out of Tech in baseball at Olsen Field.

Hell I'd move Tucker into the 2 hole. Maybe it'll be a shock to the system and snap him out of it.

Brantley can get the ABs with guys on in the 6 spot
I'd say leave him down in the order and give him specific instructions to take all pitches until he gets a first called strike and then swing all out on the next few pitches that he thinks he can reach. It's obvious he his doubting himself and has no confidence by looking at his body language and half swings. It's awful. If you give him specific instructions it might be just enough to get him out of his funk.

Game 7s in any sport are so awesome to watch, But man, it's a whole other level of nervousness when your team is in it.

It's so crazy, it might just work.

I'm an assistant coach of our HS Softball team that has won titles the last several years. Our 3-hitter was in one of these 6-week slumps, and I told the head coach almost the same thing. Either move up to the Leadoff spot or drop to the 7/8 spot. Can't go with the status quo. He chose to move her to the leadoff, and she took off and helped us win the title again after that.

So what to do about our noticeable decline of run production at home? Players have complained about the batters eye and the Astros front office has made some minor modifications. I hear what the skeptic say - it shouldn't matter since both teams use the same batters eye. My reply is so what! If that's what the players are complaining about then you have to take it seriously and do all that you can to improve batting conditions.

My solution would be to replicate Arlington's GLF batter's eye down to the smallest detail. Same dimensions and same background color. Who cares if we lose a few Budweiser landing zone bar stools on the patio. Those modifications have been fairly recent and the batters eye has been shrinking to the point that it's affecting play. This should be corrected.

Some changes I'd make is getting rid of the ivy on the batter's eye and just do a black paint. Expand it to the right and get rid of like half of the Budweiser seating area. Also lose the logo on the batters eye.

I would put trying too hard, playing "hero ball", or just flat out bad luck way ahead of the batter's eye as an "excuse".

It is extremely small compared to the majority of other ballparks. Also there is a lot going on to the right of it. Need to simplify the sightlines for the batters.

Prior to August 13th loss to the Angels, the Astros were 33-25 at home (57%). Since, they are 7-21 (25%). The Oakland A's won 32% of their games at home. There is no possible explanation for the Astros performance at home other than a voodoo curse.

Only Game 7 I've ever been to: Rockets / Sonics 1997 WC SF. A buddy of mine got a job with the Rockets right out of college and my brother and I were the extreme beneficiaries of that deal, going to 5 playoff games that year with floor seats.

Heart pounding game. Clyde missed a free throw to give Seattle the ball down 3 points with 16 seconds to go.

This game is notable because it's about 13 months before Shawn Kemp decided to move his career along by gaining 80 pounds in about 3 months.

If it's this nerve-wracking tonight, I might go Fred Sanford in the living room

But I do think I'm with the poster above you that if I'm the owner, I make the batter's eye much, much bigger.

Yep. And if the players have really been harping on it, then it's in their head and 100% mental. And Dusty needs to be a leader that snaps them out if it. Hasn't happened though.

But just to shake them out of their funk we should just drape a huge Baylor-sized tarp over the Budweiser and torchy's decks in CF, switch up the positions of all the huge ads, switch dugouts, and boo them constantly so it throws them off and they feel like they're on the road.

Doesn't matter if it's real or not. Once those guys thought it was a problem, it was.

And let's be honest. It was an extremely busy background with all the various levels, lines, textures, and colors. Looking into and having glare off the glass from setting sun is hard enough. Throw that in and I don't think it was outrageous to suggest cleaning it up some.

Agreed! They have been greedy trying to maximize advertising dollars to the teams detriment. Lose the damn Budweiser patio and expand the batters eye the full length of where the Budweiser patio is now located. Also paint it black to dark green to maximize contrast between the wall and base ball.

I don't care how much we suck at home, I'm not going to sit here and let someone besmirch the good name of Torchy's Tacos.

We can call it the new and improved Torchy's Tacos sponsored batters eye. You happy now?

So the batter's eye affects our hitters (who play half their games here) more than our opponents? Interesting.

Settle down.

Torchy's does that enough themselves. $6 for a taco should be a crime.

This will surprise many people. But for all the crap we get about the short porch that is the crawford boxes, Minute Maid is way down the list of 32 parks in runs scored. 20th out of 32.

So yah, considering everyone expects so many homeruns, it does appear that teams struggle to score runs at the Juice Box.

No chance. And based on how Javier has been with Maldy catching him lately, I don't want Diaz to catch over Maldy.

In a game 7?

Absolutely none. And we'll thank him for it later.

I agree with this ... However, if we fall behind by 2 or 3 runs by the 4th or 5th inning, we need to make the change earlier so Diaz gets 2-3 ABs instead of just the 1 AB. That change should happen IMO, but it absolutely will not. Should have happened last night
