You can't over use Pressly when you likely will be without Abreu tomorrow.

all hands on deck
Youd think Brown and France are better options if needed than JV on short rest but who knows. Hopefully el Reptil throws 6 innings and its not a problem, less the 8th (Abreu's spot).

Win tomorrow, or Altuve's legendary moment in game 5 will largely be forgotten. That would be a true travesty

Last offseason he changed his swing to hit for more power, but it made the hole in his swing bigger for the outside and away pitch. After the ASB, he changed his swing back to what worked last year. He's messed up.

Add on to that he hasn't improved his pitch and location recognition well enough that the only place pitchers pitch him is outside or low and away. He doesn't get busted inside anymore like last year to take advantage of a mistake or turn on it. He hits with no power when it's outside. An example of his pitch recognition and location recognition is pitchers throwing him a fastball low and away for a free strike. He doesn't even swing at it to foul it off. He's completely abandoned anything in that location that he's rarely fighting it off.

Just watch how pitchers are pitching him. He has serious holes outside and low and away and there is almost no possible way for him to make that large of adjustment in season.

He's going to have to work on pitch and location recognition during the offseason to the point he can either start taking the slider away for a ball consistently and fouling off the fastball low and away to force pitchers to pitch him over the plate. He may need to work really hard with Bregman.

His biceps and traps do him no good if he can't get the barrel to the ball.

For the love of all that is Astros, play this friggin lineup just once.

An .800+ OPS hitter sitting all playoffs is a tragedy. If we get a massive lead early, THEN put in the "defensive replacement pitcher whisperer Maldonado" (BS)

If Javier isn't perfect tomorrow, this team 2019s all over again. Play whatever catcher he tells you makes him comfortable.

I'm worried that the Astros are emotionally spent after Game 5, much like the 1975 A&M football team was after the Texas win, and in turn got steamrolled by Arkansas.

The Astros are the antithesis of TAMU football

Even with a dynasty I still have BAS. Would love to be super confident about tomorrow, but 2019 still haunts.

And it just had to be the Ragners. If it was the Rays or the O's or another team I respected it would be one thing, but these guys are all dbags of the highest order.

Make the team stay at a hotel and follow your road game processes or something tonight. Our performances at home are laughably bad at this point. It's 100% mental and they start pressing.

This is exactly why I would have brought Abreu back out. I truly think we got Dustied tonight between this and the pinch hitting (no Yainer PH to lead off the 7th; PH Jon in the 8th rather than Yainer or Chas)

Stros by 6, or not at all. I don't see us staying in a close game. But, who knows. Scherzer had a crappy game 3, but it was his first start in over a month. Maybe he repeats his performance, or maybe the rust is off. Either way, I don't think he has more than 80 pitches in him, so we need extended ABs, and swinging for base hits, not long balls. If we can run him by the 4th, I like our chances.

Yeah if tomorrow was anywhere else, I'd take us 9/10. Unfortunately its at ****ing home and I'd give us a 25% chance.

The Astros organization should return the cost of tickets for the ALCS games

Post 2017 this core hasn't exactly done great in elimination games. They haven't played in a lot but I think the Game 5 against the Rays is the only win

It was Scherzer on the mound for the Nationals when they swept us at home in the 2019 World Series. He went five innings, scattered seven hits, and gave up two runs. Nats scored six in the final three frames to win it. Scherzer was out dueled by Greinke, who was pulled one batter too soon, with Kendrick hitting what has to be one of the luckiest home runs in World Series history.

With our offensive struggles at home and the Rangers good fortune, it feels like a similar game is coming. However, I think we can flip the script and win a close one late with the Rangers bullpen out dueling our offense in the woeful category.

I look at this way...imagine if we didn't steal game 5. This game would have been THE WORST.

Yes, losing a game 7 will suck massively but at least we're given the opportunity. Anything can happen in a game 7 and I think that works more for us than it does for them. All normal rules are thrown out the window so who knows, maybe we put up a crooked number and it starts to snowball on them.

They've run out of their big arms and although Mad Max is still a big name he's still coming back from recovery and we don't know how his arm/shoulder responded after his last outing.

He couldn't PH Diaz in the 8th in that spot. Not with Maldy next. You would be stuck doing a double switch and putting Kessinger in the 9hike and he would be leading off the 9th.

He needed to do it in the 7th.

We've had 10 playoff games so far this year. Five have been on the road and five have been at home.

Average score for the 5 home games: Astros 2.8, Opponents 5.2
Average score for the 5 road games: Astros 7, Opponents 3

I would think that they'd have to break out of this ineptness at home at some point, but then I remember that they're under .500 at home for the year.

I agree, 7th was the best time and not doing it forced him to make a worse decision in the 8th.

Bases loaded with one out...letting Dubon hit was a huge mistake. That should have been Yainer's chance. To make it even worse, he went and put Kessinger at SS after pinch hitting for Pena. If you're not moving Dubon to SS after that, why are you letting him have that huge AB?

I can't specifically remember anything happening to Pena in May, but he certainly could have some nagging injury.

He's got a lot of work to do in the offseason. He appears to be a really hard worker, so I think he's going to put in the time.

Going to be interesting to find out. I was thinking an injury too, but his defense has not missed a beat.

Supposedly a personal issue (GF or something) caused him to lose focus during the regular season but his defense have been excellent so if his mind was drifting you'd think it would also impact his defense.

Pena, Tucker and Doobie tonight really sunk our chances.

Would be nice to have Diaz in the lineup tomorrow night but we all know that likely won't happen.

Keys to win tomorrow

1. ELITE pitching. I mean 1 run or less
2. pray for life from the offense
