Who is more likely to get back that one solo shot JV always gives up in the 1st or 2nd - Maldy or Diaz. That's what they need to ask Justin.

Hoping tonight for Cy Young JV and October Altuve Tucker & Yordan!

Bregman's issue isn't a juiced ball. He's no longer quick to the middle or middle in pitch.

Some of that is he's rarely pitched middle or middle in because he's so on top of the plate no one throws it there. It's all away away away and he's either popping it up, hitting it to the big part of the park because he can't pull it or he's pulling it into a grounder.

And because he's so on top of the plate he's susceptible to getting bad calls away when the ump is fooled.
take out your 2nd sentence and I agree. He still gets to the inside pitches when it is thrown. But you're correct, they aren't. When he goes with the away pitch as he should "y'all" complain (people in general not you specifically) that he isn't pulling the ball enough

Just landed at the Austin airport to see that lineup. Guess Dusty isn't interested in putting maximum pressure on the opponent.

Don't know why I thought it would be different than at any other point this year

I just can't get over how insane Bregman's 2018-2019 was. It had to be juiced balls. Mainly 2019 with 41 HR

I think he's still a very solid player worth about 20M per year.

What's crazy is this month his batting average has dropped over 10 points from .272 to .261 but his on base has stayed pretty much the same going from .365 to .364
I think the market will say otherwise.

For the 2022 Offseason

Quote:

The per-WAR average of the top 25 position players is also similar to what pitchers earned, coming in at $5,380,791.93.
If Brgman is a 4-5 WAR player then he's probably worth 22-27 M per year on the open market.

Someone will give that to him. It shouldn't be us.

I just realized how bad that really is, since Brantley only has a dozen games or so.

I thought it was $8,000,000/war in free agency?

This. Dusty and management don't seem to care, so I don't either. If we squeak into the playoffs, great. But this season has been an absolute beating and might signal the end of the Golden Era.

hate to give credit to the preseason media pundits...

but one of their cautions about the 2023 Astros...

relying on several or too many old guys

If only the Astros had other younger options that were better hitters than their old guys…sad that Dusty is forced to play Maldy every day because he doesn't have anybody better…

It's going to depend on position (closers get paid at a higher clip) and it's not always the same each year.

I'll reserve judgment on the era until we see next year with, hopefully, some key contributors on the roster and healthy from the start, as well as a manager who knows up from down.

But there's no doubt this year is a waste in the midst of this run and, if they miss the playoffs as defending champs with the same roster, a complete failure.

And the thing is this complete implosion is everyone's fault.

It's Crane for not hiring a GM quick enough
It's the FO for just not optioning all of Bakers favorites
It's Dusty for the shlt lineups
It's the players for sucking down the stretch

A collapse like this isn't at the feet of one person.

Main problem is old guy manager not playing the better younger players he has available.

They should have been able to beat OAK and KC with any combo of 9 players off this roster.

Diaz not getting ABs doesn't excuse Bregman and Tucker hitting .151 and .200 in their last 15 games or Press blowing saves or Framber giving up 6 over 5.1 to the worst team in MLB.

Like I said...It's not one person
