According to our insider on here, Chas is not hurt. Sounds like Dusty just being Dusty. Dusty not a fan of Chas so feels like unless Chas puts up player of the month numbers all the time then Chas will not be a consistent every day player.Mathguy64 said:

JV has been about what I expected.
He was never gonna be the dominant sub 2 ERA elite ace we've seen in the past but he's still gonna be a solid top end starter who will eat innings and give you a chance to win every game he starts.

He was pretty inconsistent with the Mets as well. What he brings is swagger and (hopefully) confidence. I'll gladly have him as our #1 in a series even if some of his starts now are like last night's.

He's 4-2 since coming over. In his two losses, he's only received three runs worth of support combined from the offense. Going back to his time with the NYM, he's 9-3 in his last twelve starts. And he received zero runs of support from the Mets in that one loss he had with them. He's gone 6 (or more) innings in four of his six starts with us, which is one thing that we desperately needed to help out our bullpen. He's giving up more hits than you'd probably expect from Verlander, but at the same time he's not giving free passes to guys…he hasn't walked more than two batters in any of his six starts.
Last night, he just didn't have it. Unfortunately, that happens sometimes.

Whether the statements on Dusty's perception of Chas is accurate or not, it's absurd for him to not be in the lineup.
He's 4th on the team in AVG, 5th in OBP, 4th in SLG, 4th in OPS, and 4th in WAR. How do you leave him on the bench?

Chas got benched after that head slide into first base and it's not at all surprising because that stuff doesn't pass a certain someone's eye test, even if everyone on his teams play
Chandler Rome has written about it. It is not a secret and publicly known in clubhouse that Dusty not a fan of Chas.

With Tuve out I think Breggy should leadoff and Uncle Mike should be in the two hole. Chaz should bat 6th and Dobbie 8th or 9th. I'm actually like Pena batting 9th.
Chas should lead off. Only an old school manager like Dusty puts a low OBP guy like Dubon in the leadoff spot.

Because the manager is actually bad at managing because he doesn't care about logic and his entire career has been evidence of that fact until he got carried to a ring by a superteam and front-office playoff hand-holding.
This man really saw Dubon's effort replacing Altuve last night and said yes, let's do that again.
It's just incredibly lazy to keep the lineup the same and plug a guy into leadoff b/c he's the replacement for the usual guy.

As weird as the lineup choice is, it shouldn't matter tonight. We need to beat up on Severino. No excuses
His 13 inning scoreless streak has been against Washington (decent-ish) and Detroit, so no excuses tonight, if we don't hit him well.
