Because eventually everyone more or less reverts to who they are. Even when he was doing "well" his OPS/wRC still sucked because he never walked and very rarely hit for power. He's not a leadoff hitter by old standards (see a lot of pitches, consistent steal threat) or new ones (consistent hard contact). He frequently combines only the worst traits of Altuve (swing immediately without concern for location) and Bregman (weak pop-up) without any of their pluses (power and pitch discretion).

Only one person doesn't see this or doesn't care.

The good news is that his negative impact is blunted after the first inning since there are no longer two bad hitters directly behind him. He basically becomes the nine hitter after his first AB
