I don't think dominant Verlander is likely but luckily with the money we saved on him still think we got a great deal on "all-star caliber" Verlander.

Well, you're the 1st person I've encountered that held that belief in my 44 years of life….so, by your definition, I guess he wasn't "crafty."
I'll side with the countless people (including myself) who referred to him as crafty throughout his career.
