I dont disagree with your point, but Bregman ain't average. He's top 5 in WAR & wRC+ for third baseman this year. He was avg in Mar-May. He's been good to great since.

Can someone explain the Dubon "personal centerfielder" for Verlander thing?

According to the Gospel of Dusty, JV is a fly ball pitcher and Dubon has a better arm than Meyers, and as a result he's better equipped to keep the opposition from going 1st to 3rd.

Dusty just has this gut feeling that Dubon plays better when JV pitches. Something about this one time they went on a fishing trip together and Dubon helped JV reel in this monster Marlin. Also Diaz doesn't hit lefties well so that means you really need Dubon in center.

I don't ****ing know.

I agree that Dubon has a better arm than Meyers. Meyers has a noodle arm

While dubon is better than Meyers. Chas is better than both and Yordan won't lose you a game by being in left.

So Yordan in left, Chas in CF and Tucker at RF. Diaz DH

could use some help from the Dodgers today to push the Red Sox (69-61) another game back of the Astros (73-58) in the loss column...

before the 3-game set at Fenway

It's as much that Meyers is prone to mental errors, throwing to the wrong base and sort of double clutching throwing.

Is Dubon a better fielder? No. If a ball is hit in the gaps I want to take my chances with Jake getting to it.

This is just Dusty playing feels ball. He feels it in his guts so that's how he plays ball.

Seattle's schedule will finally get through this cream puff era in 7 games when they get to @Reds. We need to be within 1-2 games at that point in the season to like our odds.

But is perfectly fine with runners stealing 2nd and 3rd.

The night before a JV start last year, Dusty went home and smoked a giant Doobie and got the best sleep of his life. Waking up the next morning refreshed and feeling, in his mind, centered, he took that as a sign from the universe that Dubon should forever and always start in center field when JV pitches.

I'm just guessing...

Lolzzz why would you play your best lineup when you're in a dogfight for the playoffs? That's fan stuff...

Maybe we'll get "team meeting" Maldy today. Not 0-3, 2K Maldy.

Seems like JV cares more about padding his personal stats if he truly believes in Maldy and Dubon being the better defensive options...which isn't based in reality

Wow. Just woke up this morning and realized how awful dusty baker is for this team. Third ****ing place you ****ing loser. **** you dusty baker. **** you.

You okay dude?

What's funny about all of these Dusty rants is that it's almost like Pavlovian response at this point. As maddening as Dusty can be at times, this team has had deeper issues than Dusty. Two starting pitchers out for the year. Brantley out. Bregman just average. Abreu struggling. It's a host of issues. Is Dusty a wizard? Heck no. But the team is just not as strong overall.

You're right but that's all the more reason to maximize your chances to win with what you have, and he's an intentional and utter failure at that. Diaz sitting in a rubber match today as yet another example.

The Rays and Dodgers both have lost more SP than the Astros (the whole Dodgers rotation has been out at various points and like the top four Rays starters had or are having TJ) and both are ahead in the standings. Why? Management of the club doesn't rest 100% in the hands of a baseball boomer with his own version of reality.

Just a hunch, but if you took Betts and Freeman out of that lineup for a significant amount of time in addition to the pitching injuries, the Dodgers would not be sniffing first place.

it will be very interesting to see who he takes at-bats away from

hopefully not Chas or Yainer

Dana also says he will be an every-other-day player

That's exciting news! Only down side is that it will take away ABs from Diaz.

What does the lineup look like with him back?

Altuve
Bregman
Alvarez/Tucker
Tucker/Alvarez
Chas
Brantley
Diaz (when he catches)
Abreu
Meyers

Or

Altuve
Tucker
Bregman
Alvarez
Chas
Brantley
Abreu
Jake
Maldy

It seems like stacking Chas in between two lefties is a good idea.

We need Yordon to work it out and get back to himself over the next month

It's honestly amazing the offense is still scoring this many runs while he is slumping like this
