Robert is definitely better than Chas and by a wide margin, specifically when considering defense and baserunning. That said, Chicago isn't going to trade him anyway. The only real question is whether Chas should be playing everyday for this team, even when Yordan is back, and the answer is clearly yes.

I truly believe trading Chas would be a huge mistake. He's demonstrated that he is a productive player when he's in the lineup.

I agree with this


I disagree with this. I think we are seeing peak Chas at the moment and he will not be able to stay this good over a full season.

Robert is a different animal. Better athletically. Better power. Brighter ceiling. True annual All Star type talent.

A lot of you are caught up in recency bias with Chas.

I love the guy. He's a nice player. But there's some regression to the mean coming. He's not a 850+ OPS player.

In no world is he comparable to Luis Robert.

Chas is great but Robert is way better. When both are at their mean…. Robert is still a .850+ OPS guy, and Chas is likely .775ish

Robert also hits ALOT of homeruns, which we need right now.

However … if there's a chance to keep Chas I'd do that. An outfield of Tucker, Robert, and Chas with Yordan at DH would be incredible

I know you said 2.5 min. But it's more like 4.5 with the club options. Unless he falls off there is no reason why you wouldn't pick up those options.

In 2022 Fangraphs had Robert at the 8th most valuable player via trade. That factors in skills level, contract length, age, & contract amount. Yordan was 5th. Whatever you think it costs to get Yordan then the Robert trade would need to be similar.

I think the package being put on here need to be much larger.
