And it was a general comment about "celebrating."
6 starts is not nothing when you're talking about record in early June. Plus their starters are statically top 5ish (#4 WAR, #2 ERA, #4 FIP, #9 in SIERA). It's not just the lineup winning them games.tjack16 said:
They're in first place pretty much without him being much of a factor so far this season.
I dont see it impacted them that much given they are winning based on their lineup

That they were willing to way overspend to get him. I'd love to see the second place offer sheet. The REAL offer sheet, not what deGrom's agent told the Rangers other teams were willing to spend.Farmer1906 said:2023 (age 35) - 30 MW said:

the Rangers did not listen.
he's making $30 MM this year...and set for $40 MM next year...
no telling when he'll be ready to pitch in 2024
2024 (36) - 40 M
2025 (37) - 40 M
2026 (38) - 38 M
2027 (39) - 37 M
2029 (40) - 20 M (could be 30 or 37 M if he meets certain qualifications)
What the hell were they thinking?

When he leads the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night, the AL and NL champions are expected to play without any U.S.-born Black players for the first time since 1950, shortly after Jackie Robinson broke the Major League Baseball color barrier.
It's a fact that deeply disturbs the 73-year-old Baker, one of two Black MLB managers, who has spent his entire life either playing or coaching baseball.
"What hurts is that I don't know how much hope that it gives some of the young African-American kids," Baker told The Associated Press on Thursday. "Because when I was their age, I had a bunch of guys, [Willie] Mays, [Hank] Aaron, Frank Robinson, Tommy Davis -- my hero -- Maury Wills, all these guys. We need to do something before we lose them."

He decided to become an usher last year on a lark and what a season to pick as your "rookie" year. He has a nice area too, lower level right behind home plate shaded towards first base. He said the hardest part is keeping folks who don't belong in their section out but one time a "very attractive" woman carrying a baby asked very nicely if she could go through because she forgot her ticket and he decided to let her. A veteran usher witnessed it and came up to him and he thought he was in trouble until she told him "that's Lance McCuller's wife."
He also said for both of Yordan's 3 run blasts he mentioned to a fan both times "can you believe how loud this place would get if he connected on one?" Obviously the last one was the loudest he's ever heard Minute Maid.
He was most nervous for the ALCS because he knew if they didn't win that one he wouldn't get a ring since they only give them out for WS and LCS titles. He said the veteran lady I mentioned earlier could look like Tom Brady if she wanted with all the bling she's acquired since '17.
I know cool story bro...
Im proud of this thread for either being decent enough humans or respecting the baseball gods enough to not celebrate the injury.agproducer said:
I'm not going to celebrate the Rangers misfortune. The team is having a historical year, and most of the Ags on the other thread have stuck with them through all the recent terrible seasons.

I know it's definitely not the same as the players but he did have to sign a waiver promising he would never sell it on eBay or anywhere else. I'd be curious to know how many different levels of rings they produced.n_touch said:
Is it the same ring that the players get or a little less on the bling?
So you think Taylor Jones is out there wondering if he just wasn't black enough to get that token lineup spot?AustinCountyAg said:Beau Holder said:

Dusty might be crap at lineups and he might feel great about giving a young black guy an opportunity to be in the lineup, but if you really think he plays someone based on race you are truly twisted.

I love that Dusty believes in the time honored tradition of splitting your left-handed hitters (even though we all know it's not applicable to our situation) yet he ignores the time honored tradition of playing a dude when he's hot.Jet Black said:
