They started that run under .500 and at the end of that run they lost three consecutive series to mid teams to continue hovering around .500, so I'm not sure it changes the point.
I'm leaning toward age.Mathguy64 said:
Abreu's SLG is now .257.
This can't be real.
I mean the rest of the team is swinging wet noodle level bats but having that at the 4 or 5 spot is criminal. It's not a slump. It's either a significant injury dating back to last year that he won't admit to or he's 40.
This may be the worst FA contract in a decade.
wouldn't that make him younger?Dies Irae said:
It's easy to believe, Abreu's like 6'4", at age 13 he would have been man-sized most likely; he could definitely have passed for the 16-17 year olds who start at baseball camps.
Yep. Jim, Jeff, and Dusty need to get out of the way and let Dana work.CFTXAG10 said:
It is becoming more and more evident we will be needing some help via trade before the deadline

I made the Chris Davis comparison the other day. Not the company a player wants to keep.Harry Dunne said:
Not surprisingly, Abreu has worst WAR in the majors.
He is on pace for a -4.05 WAR, which would be the worst in major league history.
He's obviously going to either improve or get benched and won't ever get to that mark and WAR is also a very imperfect measure...But just for perspective it can reasonably be said that he's playing as badly as the worst players that ever played.
And that is something.

I probably wouldn't have agreed but I would've listened if you'd have said that he's gonna slip some and won't be as productive as his career numbers but anyone who tells you they thought he'd be this bad is straight up lying.
It's astonishing
This is the true test of Dusty's stubbornness...will he move Abreu down to at LEAST 6th in the batting order on Friday night or will he continue to thumb his nose at Dana and all us "fan stuff idiots" and put him back in the cleanup spot.Big Al 1992 said:
Abreu is making any other recent Astro slump - Springer during 2017 playoffs until he got hot in the WS, Altuve during last year playoffs, Tucker last year with the batting gloves on and off - look like they just shook a day off compared to this never ending season long suckage. Give Abreu the Oakland series with their tomato can pitching staff to work something out - bat him 6,7, or 8. And if no power or consistency give him the next series off or make up a reason to put him in the 10-15 day DL, or let him rehab in Sugar Land, No one - other than Dusty and Bags - have confidence in him, including himself. It's painful to watch.
Assuming he doesn't come back he'd be the best off-season signing by far amongst the three. Brantley hasn't played below replacement level baseball, his contract was for one year, he's much cheaper than the other two (not that it matters given we're well under the mid-market salary cap and it's an expiring contract), and Crane can be reimbursed for a cool 12 million.Ag_07 said:Jet Black said:

Good one
