I think Abreu hitting 4th is a show of support from Dusty, like a "hey we still believe in you". I'm not a hitting Sherpa, but I figure a large component of hitting well has to be mental, and if Abreu isn't a moron he has to be feeling the pressure. Rather than move the guy to 9th and breaking him forever, perhaps Dusty is trying to bolster his confidence
My POV is just that he should be able to handle it and might even feel less pressure hitting lower and find his mojo again.
