So much teeth gnashing for a team on a 7 game win steak. We will be 4-5 games ahead of the Rangers by the break

Not so sure on the rangers. I know their schedule has been pretty easy but they sure put up some good numbers on offense. They could be in the mix all season
worth noting Dubon played CF a lot last year when JV pitched because of his stellar defense....Farmer1906 said:tjack16 said:Farmer1906 said:
Someone will have to explain to me why Bregman should be benched yet Dubon is a must start.
As he heating up, going into today he had a 1.1XX OPS over the last week. His expected #s show he's due to get hot (as he is) and his floor is high because he gets on base even when slumping.
I havent been on the thread as much this week but are people actually saying Bregman needs to be benched?
Maybe I've had too many bourbons. Just moved down. Not benched.
Regardless, here is the Farmer plan.
Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, & Tucker bat top 4. Figure out the order. It's doesn't matter that much. (Tucker, Altuve, Alvarez, Bregman would probably be my pick).
If there is a lefty starting, (2/3 or all 3) McCormick, Meyers, and Dubon need to be in the lineup. And Pena can't be benched to get Dubon in.
Diaz has to play more. Get him a guaranteed start behind the dish behind the plate at least once a week (I would do 2 or 3) then he also needs a start at 1st or DH once a week as well.
Don't give up on Abreu. But he needs to be down in the order, especially vs LHP when we have so many killers. We need him good to help win a title.
Chas & Jake start in the OF when Javier or any fly ball pitcher pitches. Pena starts all Framber, McCullers, & Brown starts.
All gets get regulars rest, Dubon is the first guy off the bench.
I think that is all that comes to mind.

Good morning to everyone but Oakland, #Athletics fans and anyone who doesn’t like a little “gravy” in the morning. The @astros took out the trash from the AL West all weekend long and now set their sights on Milwaukee…#Ready2Reign🤘🏼🔥#ad @CramCrew pic.twitter.com/fSiFsBF1q1

For this season I'd rather they just use Lance in a long reliever type of role and trade for a 3/4 caliber starter

I get that line of thinking, but it has gone on far too long. I believe that hitting 4th is probably mentally taxing on him right now because he is well aware of how bad he is sucking in such a critical spot.Dies Irae said:
I think Abreu hitting 4th is a show of support from Dusty, like a "hey we still believe in you". I'm not a hitting Sherpa, but I figure a large component of hitting well has to be mental, and if Abreu isn't a moron he has to be feeling the pressure. Rather than move the guy to 9th and breaking him forever, perhaps Dusty is trying to bolster his confidence

It's long past time he is moved down to the 7-8 spot where he can be told, the pressure is off a bit, just relax and find your stroke.
Not on both sides, I hopeFarmer1906 said:
Astros now #1 in ERA, xFIP, SIERA, & K-BB%.
The Brewers are pretty average offensively. I would expect another low-scoring series.

I'm not following... he'd only pitch once a week in either scenario, so why not keep him as a starter? You're not going to roll out LMJ every couple of days for 1 or 60 pitches.
Although they lead the NL central their run differential is -2. They are just about as average as you can get.Farmer1906 said:

On yesterday's date in 2021 Correa got moved down to 7th in the order.Dies Irae said:

Also this is a good post and probably exactly what Dusty is thinking - I'm not trying to pick on you.Dies Irae said:

He ended up being an All-Star that season and his hitting and ego recovered just fine.
I'm not arguing that he's better than Chas, or Jake in the OF. However, I will argue that with his experience in the OF, combined with his current top 10 in MLB batting avg he should be getting playing time over both of them right now. If Dusty doesn't want to let him start in the IF anywhere so be it, but he needs to be getting starts in the OF at least. Sitting him makes ZERO sense.Farmer1906 said:AustinCountyAg said:worth noting Dubon played CF a lot last year when JV pitched because of his stellar defense....Farmer1906 said:tjack16 said:Farmer1906 said:

He's not as good as Chas or Jake. Per Dusty, he played him there because he has a good arm and didn't want guys moving 1st to 3rd.
