Watching the post game, and France said he thought his stuff was just as good as his 1st 2 starts. Wondered if he was tipping his pitches. I just thought his location was atrocious.
2021-level Jake seems to have finally returned lately as well. Suddenly the Brantley "setback" seems to be much less of a problem especially if we can stay hot for a while.Farmer1906 said:Beat40 said:cc10106 said:
Once Pena smashed that double it was all but game-over. That dude is such a spark and loves big moments.
I have this feeling once Altuve gets back we're seeing last years post season 1-4 lineup with the way Pena has been having ABs lately.
And that's okay. Lineup depth is important.

It's going to be very interesting to see how Dubon is handled. He's earned much more than a late PH or once a week replacement for a resting Tuve....

I see him in the Marwin role: he'll play SS, CF, 2B, 3B to give the regulars consistent days off.
My first thought was DH and all the non-1B IF spots. Heck I'd also at least practice him at 1B / LF to see what he's got, esp if MB is delayed for a bit.Farmer1906 said:RED AG 98 said:

It's tough because Chas & Jake are playing good ball so you don't really want to put him in CF. Pena & Breggy could use a few days off here and there. But PT is going to be tough.
Edit: maybe DH Tuve some. Dubon is better defensively at 2B.

Dubon can play LF, no? We can DH Yordan while Dubon plays LF. Give Altuve a spot DH spot and let Dubon play 2B and Yordan play LF.

ETA: basically no reason for Hensley at this point...

Some but you still have Chas and Meyers fighting for time in CF/LF. I think it's safe to say Julks is the odd man out in all of this.

These conversations we are having after much more fun after a win and sweep than trying to figure out how we spark this team.

If you ditch Hensley then do you keep Salazar so Diaz can DH/1B/PH often?

What I would do is start Diaz behind the plate at least half the time. But I see your point as it's clear DB ain't doing that.. Really wish we had another option at 1B because holding 2 spots for Abreu and Hensley is certainly less than ideal thus far (and I know Abreu ain't going anywhere).Farmer1906 said:RED AG 98 said:My first thought was DH and all the non-1B IF spots. Unfortunately yes. Love Julks and his story, but the OF is getting crowded when Altuve comes back. Even more so if MB comes back.

I'm going to get flamed for this, and you guys have to keep in mind I'm an eternal optimist by nature, but I just have this inkling Abreu is getting close. Saw him pull the ball more this series than I have this year, even though a fair amount were foul. His RBI single, while beat into the ground, was pulled through the left side of the infield.
Hope it wasn't just a Cub series thing and really the beginnings of a turn around.
