I'm quickly becoming old(ish) but the new way infielders are taught to play that ball is why that scores a run. In the old days that's off the legs / body / face if it misses the glove but stays close enough to prevent the run. Guess the downside is playing on the side let's the new guys make more plays than the classic get in front of the ball method. See also outfielders and the new 1 hand catch...

I hate that call on Jake. He didn't leave the box or make any unnatural move whatsoever. Never understood what the batter is supposed to do there -- he was still in the follow-through.

That's a good question but considering that Abreu's power drought is going on about three months now it would be tempting to bet on Mancini. Hope that's wrong.

I watched it again. That is not batter interference. Not in a million years. Jake swung and was in his box. JT threw into him. That's a complete BS call and Dusty should be on blue's ass.
