Just win the next two. That's all I ask. Then it's a 2/3 series

So far this series can come down to 2 plays per game

Game 1: Bregman's almost HR turned double play, or Maldy striking out with bases loaded

Game 2: bases loaded no outs K by Altuve, or Framber's throwing error.

Reminds me of last year's ALCS except this time we are on the Yankees side of it. (Judge almost homerun, their botched double play that led to us taking the lead late in game 4)
How does game 2 only go on Altuve's K...we had bases loaded with no outs. 3 people got out without moving a runner over, that isnt just on him

My mindset is the same. Get it back to Houston, even though we have not been great here. You could argue we were a swing away from winning both. Treat Arlington like a 3 game series that you need to win.

The loss wasn't squarely on Altuve but he contributed to it for sure.

It's concerning that we're in the 2nd postseason where he's been largely useless at the plate. And for this postseason tucker is right there with him.

I think Jose thinks the way we think - he's going to hit a home run every time up. When he bunted for a base hit vs. Minnesota, it was like the Red Sea parting. As accomplished as he'd become as a clutch home run hitter, he's still the leadoff guy whose main job is getting on base.

Tucker I'm clueless with. And without going down the lollygagging avenue, I would have a lot more sympathy for him if he'd sprint down to first on grounders instead of jogging. One of these days they're going to overthrow a ball on a routine play and still get him out because he's stopped hustling.

Your response has nothing to do with the discussion. He specifically said it was on 2 plays. Altuves K or Framber's error. And I said we made 3 outs

I agree he's playing horrible but that inning goes on all 3 that made the outs and generally to a manager that has mismanaged the catcher position but then plops a rookie into the biggest situation of his life

I wish I had your optimism. I am hoping for wins but not going to be all upset if we don't get them

I have a random theory.

I was at the game last night and they would show multiple feeds on the stadium TVs. On the stadium feed many of our players looked bad. I'm talking sweating profusely and completely flushed red faces. On the TV feeds the colors were adjusted quite a bit differently. It was obvious enough that people were talking about it.

I wonder if it isn't just Alverez that is sick, but a large portion of the team.

You do realize he was the last of those 3 outs, correct?

It doesn't but to me he's the guy out of him or Diaz who is expected to drive one in. Diaz is a rookie and pinch hit. Altuve is the former MVP, and multi time all star.

It's harder to defend Altuve striking out than it is Diaz.

Diaz was not the right guy AT ALL to PH in that situation. We needed contact in that scenario, therefore IMO that should've been Dubon. At the end of the day, they're all professionals and bases loaded with no outs you expect ANY of them to at least drive in one run. But I was shocked to see Diaz in that spot and not Dubon.

Really, other than the fact that he's such a plus fielder, I wish they would have pinch hit for Pena as well. I think everyone at the ballpark and everyone on this board knew he was going to strike out.

Yeah, using Dubon would have been a much better option. The only reason Dusty likely held him back is because we only have 4 outfielders on the roster, and maybe he was saving him for a defensive replacement later for Brantley.

Yesterday exposed the holes on this team. When Abreu got to second in the 8th, most managers would have used a pinch runner there. But...you really don't want to do that because then you have Singleton playing 1B later in the game. Woof.

I get where you're coming from, but if that was the reason he went with Diaz over Dubon, then that's STILL a wrong decision. You absolutely take the risk of losing your defensive replacement in that situation. Brantley is plenty serviceable in the outfield to hold his own.

Dubon does anything but get a run home and this board is screaming that diaz wasn't the PH. Diaz is a dang good hitter. He's also prone to the K and eovaldi took advantage of that.

Yordan hits 2 HR in a game, Bregman another, and Astros lose only scored 4. Think about that.

Thanks Framber.

Yes, Framber is a huge reason we lost. But we could have easily overcome the 5 spot if people just got on and/or others contributed when up in big spots....

It's baseball, lots of different things and people contribute to a win or loss, not just one person.

Also not to mention the other two (home) losses came on shutouts. So not just Framber.

While it has never happened in the ALCS it has happened three times in World Series history
1985 - Kansas City Royals win the Series 4-3 over St. Louis with a little help from a blown call with two outs in the B9 in Game 6. This Series was also between in state rivals so maybe a good omen.

1986 - New York Mets win the Series 4-3 over the BoSox.

1996 - The Damn Yankees win the Series 4-2 over the Braves

It has kinda sorta happened in the NLCS. In the COVID Season the Effin' Dodgers dropped the first two games as the "home" team at Globe Life Field to the Braves but went on to win the series 4-3. Maybe a good omen that Globe Life Park will be part of both series. Possible bad omen, Cory Seager was MVP.

Bruce Bochy has been in this situation before. After the Friars ended the Astros hopes in '98 they opened the NLCS 3-0 taking the first two at Turner Field. The Braves were able to win the next two but their luck ran out after going back to Atlanta. So another bad omen I guess.

1-3 at home in the playoffs so far. Woof, though would that have surprised anyone at the start of the postseason? Even with the bye week and all the nerds in the front office, whatever ails this team at home couldn't be fixed. Truly remarkable.

Lets not forget what JP France was able to do yesterday.

For having not thrown since the last week of Sept to go out and give 2.1 scoreless while giving up only 1 hit is pretty dang good.

same organization lost every home game in the 2019 world series. It's not that surprising - seems we have struggled to score runs at home for many years. But a quick review shows it fluctuates. In 2018 we were terrible at home, but in 2019 we were great at scoring runs at home. Last year we were dead even.

I tell ya. if the 'Stros get this thing back to Houston you got to make them feel as much like they are on the road as possible. Open the damn roof, Put them in the visitor's dugout and clubhouse. Not sure if a big enough block of hotel rooms can be booked at this late date but no sleeping in their own beds at home. Astros fans need to boo Tuve and Bregman like every other MLB park. Maybe become dead silent when Yordan comes to the plate like Twins fans. I would say fans maybe shouldn't wear 'Stros gear but I know many have their own superstitions about such so this is only one aspect why this is not very feasible.
