Someone will be traded in the off-season. Wonder what the prospect haul would be for trading away someone like Garcia?CSWendt said:
Also, think about next years starting pitching.
Verlander
Framber
Javier
Brown
France
Urquidy
McCullers (hopefully)
Garcia (eventually)
When you're really bad for a long time, you start to over value the farm system. Basically, because the product on the field sucks so much, you get more interested in the farm system and hope for the future. After winning a couple of years, you realize the farm system has its place, but that place is to feed your major league team. That can be done by calling guys up, but it can also be done by trading for established talent.gigemJTH12 said:

I just don't get this...your take is to celebrate now cause 5 years from now, we may suck?gigemJTH12 said:

Back to Clifford and Gilbert, who are raking in single A and AA ball respectively...let me tell you the story of a guy raking in AAA named Jon Pendleton.
There are no guarantees in life and especially not in MLB.
This says the Mets will be paying 50 million of the over 90 to Verlander through 2025. https://t.co/Nha1n3MRBg

The New York #Mets are sending the #Astros about $54 million in the Justin Verlander trade, one executive said, if Verlander's $35 million option in 2025 becomes vested.

Verlander is owed about $93 million, meaning the #Astros would pay Verlander about $29 million for 2 1/3 years

Astros were Verlander's first choice. He might have approved the Dodgers, too, but it was a very short list, as is his right as a player with a full no-trade

I keep JP in the starting rotation for the playoffs and move Brown to BP duty. JP has been lights out ERA wise this year.AggiEE said:

Sadly, we are now paying JV about 12m per, which equals Montero's deal.Farmer1906 said:The New York #Mets are sending the #Astros about $54 million in the Justin Verlander trade, one executive said, if Verlander's $35 million option in 2025 becomes vested.

Critics of the trade are nuts. Those OF prospects for a chance to win it all again in the next 1-2 years. You do that everyday

As it was explained to me today, for luxury tax purposes, any money the Mets send the Astros to pay down Verlander contract is treated identically to having that money on their payroll. So if they’re sending $54M to HOU as reported, those are taxable payroll dollars for the Mets.
