Fair enough, Farmer - No argument here. I know the "heavies" will be ready to go on opening day and these guys need a few months off.
I suppose what I'm getting at is that the teams are in Spring Training and there are Individuals (from those teams) are in this new contest (putting the "I" in TEAM). Teams have their B squad on the ST rosters (normal), but they used to learn to gel as a team and learn/interact from the heavies, who are now off doing this Global thing.
EX: Rook infielder gets called up to field behind Javier. He should be able to anticipate fielding based on upcoming pitch and what Pena/Altuve might do with runners on... but Javier, Pena, and Altuve are not around to do Spring Training things in Spring Training (and there's no more shift). Catchers learning curve could be steep once the SPs come back from this contest.
I'm just looking forward to opening day and hope the lack of "team gel time" doesn't generate too many errors in APR-MAY during REAL baseball season, with zillions of dollars and a real championship at stake in November.
...when the Astros repeat!
