It's a different perspective sure but I don't see that they've made any widespread changes in their approach. It's not like we fired all our nerds and hired back a bunch of old scouts to do boots on the ground eye test scouting.
It's just one piece of the puzzle and he's once voice at the table. Just like one stat is. It's a piece and a tool.
I like having a guy with that perspective around and it's a guy who knows his shlt and cares about the success of the organization. It's not some outsider Crane brought in on a whim to change the course of things.
The hand wringing with every change gets old.
Everything I've heard the last 5-7 years is the Astros were ahead of most of the MLB in analytics and that is why they've been so successful.
Bagwell's comments tell me he isn't sold on that approach. I find that concerning but hopefully Crane knows what he is doing.
Is Bagwell saying get rid of the analytics?
I don't think that's what he's saying, but it sure sounds that way here.
He's just saying you have to take the human part of it also. If he's saying get rid of analytics, then I'm reading stuff wrong.
Basically he wants Lunhow because he married those two concepts perfectly, he just had blurred ethical lines.
So, just go get a Lunhow with good ethics/morals. Easy
