I like the Heaney deal.
This is what it feels like when you aren't poor.

Heaney didn't have a QO, so I believe there is no penalty for him.alvtimes said:
What do Ranger lose for signing DeGrom?? Their 2nd rounder?
Andrew Heaney? Their 3rd????

All other teams will lose their second-highest selection in the following year's Draft, as well as $500,000 from their international bonus pool for the upcoming signing period.
If one of these teams signs two such players, it will also forfeit its third-highest remaining pick and an additional $500,000.

If we sign Rodon... it will cost us our 3rd pick.
Man, you aren't lying at all. Us Mavericks fans have seen it all. We're so mentally abused that nobody is posting on the 22-23 Mavericks thread just to avoid jinxing it - - this after 3 really nice wins in a row.gigem1223 said:
First time I can recall a Dallas team not getting screwed in a lottery

Bruce Bochy's telephone buzzed on Friday, and Chris Young, the general manager of the Texas Rangers, was on the line. After some general chitchat, Young cut to the chase.
We got him, he informed Bochy. Jacob deGrom is ours.
"Euphoria hits at that point," Bochy said at the winter meetings this week, describing that phone call from Young. "I couldn't have been more thrilled, more excited that we were able to bring him here."
I got an itch to look at the BP, ironically we both probably see that as the next concern. My approach starts with what we might already have. Then, IMO, we squeeze in what else we can.wbt5845 said:
So wondering which pitching is now a bullpen piece vs. trade vs. send back down.
Gotta answer this to decide what is needed to fill out the bullpen.
Dunning (trade)
Burke (bullpen)
Hearne (bullpen)
Otto (trade)
Ragans (?)
Wnn (?)
Howard (?)
The Rule 5 Draft is this afternoon. If the Rangers are working on a trade (for an OF like Bryan Reynolds, for example), there'd be some benefit to doing it today. Right now, Texas has a full 40 and can't make a Rule 5 pick. A trade in the next few hours could change that.

Speaking of the bullpen. I hope they move Howard to the bullpen. I think he has the stuff to excel there.

But Kluber had a 0.00 ERA during his time in Texas
