Mid game update. It's in the 3rd and Joe Joe is 0-2 with a K. He's down to .198 and up to 195. He's got certainly 2 and very likely 3 more ABs. It could happen tonight!

ETA. He's now batted through 5 and is 0-3. His last out was a 1 pitch fly out. Joey my man you cannot strike out by flying out on 1 pitch. You clearly need to be patient and work the count. Down to .197 and hanging at 195. A K in his next AB will be close. He still may round to .197

ETA 2. Because I'm Mathguy I've done the math. He's currently at .19734. If he strikes out his next AB he's goes to .1969 so still .197 according to MLB. That would be .197 and 196. This event may be so rare and fleeting that it's never actually seen. They could pass each other in the night. But they could also dance back and forth for a couple of days. Every K driving his count up and BA down with a hit raising it back again. Like a twin set of suns orbiting each other in a gravitationally locked motion.

ETA 3. He's going to go down fighting like a madman. Our boy blue hit a HR in the top of the 8th so he's just underneath the Mendoza line at .199.

On to fight the fight tomorrow.

195 strikeouts ties him with 2017 Chris Davis, 2017 Khris Davis (bizarro), 2012 Curtis Granderson and 2004 Adam Dunn for 22nd all-time in a season.

When he gets to 196, he'll be tied for 20th with 2011 Mark Reynolds and a handsome devil named 2017 Joey Gallo.

Just tied Rudy York for 482nd all-time with 867 strikeouts. Took that poor sap 1,603 games to get to 867. Joey's done it in just 610.

That was the year Judge won the Triple Crown 52 HR, 127 BB, 208 K, all led the league.

Then the greatest post-season in human history.

ALDS vs. Cleveland: 16 strikeouts in 20 at-bats, batting average: .050, strikeout rate: .800
ALCS vs. Houston: 11 strikeouts in 24 at-bats, batting average: .250, strikeout rate: .458

To be fair to Judge, not sure why I feel the need considering his antics at MM this season, but five of his six hits were for extra bases (3 HRs, 2 2B) and he had a OPS of 1.065 so despite his high K count he did produce in that series.

Look what you can buy at breakingt.com.

That has me thinking if Major League baseball would sell me a Gallo jersey with a 'K' instead of a number I would totally buy one.

Actually, Mizunousa.com lets you make custom jerseys, so now I've completely stopped working instead of just kinda not working. What do you guys think?

Joey's got a 4 p.m. today. Here's some of his many press clips to keep you busy until then. That first headline made me laugh out loud.

Joey Gallo is struggling against fastballs

Free baseball in Baltimore! Joey is on deck just needs the Yankees to hold off the vaunted O's offense b10. He's still sitting at 1k 1 hit.

Edit: they didn't. O's will not register their 100th loss today and Joey won't get that 5th ab. Thanks again Boone.

Da Jankees lose! Da Jankees lose!

Unfortunately that left our boy without a chance to do something special. He was left on Deck in the top of the 10th and Da Jankees lost it in the bottom of the inning.

So he finishes the night 1-4 and a K. .200 and 196 it is.

Strikeout watch:

Miguel Cabrera is just 6 strikeouts away from knocking Mark Reynolds out of the top 10 all-time How is that even possible?

Jose Rooster tied Toby Harrah for 481st last night in all-time strikeouts. Took Toby Harrah 17 years and 2,155 games to get to 868 strikeouts. Joey did it in 612 games.

He's tied his own 2nd-best total for strikeouts, which came in 2017. He finished that campaign with 41 HR, 80 RBi, a .209 average, and 196 strikeouts.

He's on pace this year for 39 HR, 80 RBI, a .200 average, and 216 strikeouts. Somebody has found their sweet spot.

If you take Joey's entire career, he is averaging 1.4183 strikeouts per game. That'd be good for 229 in a full-season. My God, he's a specimen! If only he could have played a whole season in 2016, when he was 22. That year in a cup of coffee, he hit .040 in 17 games with 19 strikeouts in 25 at-bats. That's a 76% strikeout percentage.

BREAKING NEWS: Joey Gallo has left the game with neck tightness. Clearly the task of carrying the Yankees the last 2 months is getting old. Thoughts and prayers to a less tight neck, Joey!

Joey is out again today, which sucks. But what doesn't suck is Aaron Boone admitting he hurt his neck because he hit a home run.

Our boy is back in the lineup, but cant seem to find that third strike. a walk, a foul out, and a pop up so far vs. America's Team - assuming America hates winning baseball.

He's back! Strikeout #197 for King Donkey! 0-for-3 with a walk keeps him at .203 for the year.

I hate to even try to speak this into reality but what if the Great Convergence happens at 200/.200????????

197 ties him with the great Jack Cust for the 19th-most in a single season.

Oh baby! Joey is 1 for 3 tonight with a home run and 2 strikeouts. He's up to 199 for the season and still hitting .203! Might squeak one more at-bat out tonight!

As mentioned earlier, a hat trick tonight for Ser Gallohad gets him to an even 200 whiffs on the year. The Yankees only have 11 game to go, the record at this point is a really distant shot. Thanks a lot, Aaron Boone! You selfish POS! Joey is on pace for 215 regardless and tonight recorded just the 14th 200-strikeout season in history.

In doing so, he becomes just the third player in baseball history to have two 200 strikeout seasons in his career. The others are Mark Reynolds (2008, 2009, 2010) and Chris Davis (2015, 2016).

Joey sets a new record by having the fewest number of plate appearances in the 200 K club - just 577 so far. His total is the 5th highest in history by a left-handed hitter and he's just 7 shy of his own career mark of 207 set in 2018. He also moves up to 476th all time in strikeouts. He started the year ranked
816th.

This is the 13th time Joey Gallo has struck out 3 times in a game in 2021. He also has 2 Golden Sombreros, meaning in those 15 games, he had struck out 47 times. He now leads Matt Chapman (186) by 14 strikeouts. In a year full of pretenders, it appears Joey may be the only one to reach 200 for the year.

In another fascinating note, he has 105 more strikeouts than hits (95) as well as more strikeouts than hits and runs combined (95+85 = 180). With Eugenio Suarez getting red hot and getting the old average up to .182 recently, Joey is also the only guy with a shot at having a higher strikeout total than batting average points.

What a joy this trip has been. So grateful to share it with you and yours.
