Thinking about HOFers....how many World Series champions that didn't have a HOFer on the roster?

Starting in '00 and going backwards, most have at least two.

1997 Marlins - 0 - but could make the case Sheffield should be but isn't because of steroids

The 1988 Dodgers barely with 43 year old Don Sutton on the roster

1981 Dodgers - 0

The Dodgera are saved by Don Sutton again in 1978....but he was at least a contributor on that squad

That's all I see going back to the 50s
A couple of years more recent that your search, but there weren't any on the 2002 Angels. Actually, at the current time, neither team in that Series has a HoF player. I would guess that Dusty Baker will get in eventually as a manager.

Probably a bit recent to for the 2015 Royals to be really looked at.

With the 2010-2012-2014 Giants, I really only see one - Buster Posey.

MadBum might get a look for the postseason dominance, but agreed that Posey is the most likely from those squads.

Re: the 2015 Royals, all main contributors from that roster are out of baseball except for Salvy. He's the only possible HOF from that team, and I tend to think that he likely gets in with another good year or two.

Would you count Bruce Bochy, who I think has a very good chance to go in as a manager, especially after guiding the Rangers to a title as well?

I think that Kevin Brown should be in and will eventually. You could make the case for Orel Hershiser and Kevin Appier with some of the garbage that has gotten in recent years.

I can see the 2015 Royals team maybe finishing with no HOFs, the only guy with any sort of chance is Salvador Perez.

ETA that Salvy will be an interesting HOF case because of an extremely low career WAR matched with a likable guy with lots of accolades.
I think it's pretty safe to assume that Perez gets the vote. He was the best catcher of the 2010's. He'll have at least 9 all star selections and 5 gold gloves.

There are a SLEW of guys in that next tier that are licking their chops thanks to Jack Morris and Sabathia.

Just off the top of my head....
Luis Tiant
Kevin Brown
Oral Hershiser
Kevin Appier
Rick Sutcliffe
Bret Saberhagen
David Cone
Doc Gooden
Fernando Valenzuela
Andy Pettite
Dave Stewart
Roy Oswalt
Carlos Zambrano
Johan Santana
Yu Darvish
Mike Hampton
Tim Lincecum
Barry Zito
Jon Lester
Corey Kluber
Jacob deGrom
Blake Snell
David Price

Can't argue that...except maybe Sutcliffe, Zambrano, and Zito!

I think Schilling needs to go in ahead of all of them.

This is tedious…

In 1980 Texas Rangers outfielder Al Oliver led the league in games played with 163. He played for no other team that season. The Rangers went 76-85. 161 games total. Why the discrepancy? It appears to be related to a June 2nd game at Comiskey that was called (suspended?) in the bottom of the 6th tied 1-1. On July 26th the same box score shows up as game 2 of a doubleheader at Comiskey. Did they double count player stats from that one unfinished game?

July 26

Also, the two teams played yet another doubleheader the following day but this appears to be unrelated to the confounding game counts.

Baseball reference oddity for the stros fans out there. Evan Gattis hit 12 career triples during his time in the big leagues. Of those 12 triples for the big fella, 11 of them came in the 2015 season for the Houston Astros. Hard to believe that Gattis hit 12 triples alone but incredible that 11 of them came in one season.

Ron Wright - Made one start for the Seattle Mariners in 2002 against the Texas Rangers. Maybe the craziest stat line this world has ever seen. In his 1 career start he had 3 career plate appearances. He went 0-3. First at bat he struck out. Second at bat he grounded into a triple play. Third at bat he grounded into a double play. Quite the career stat line.

Charlie Finley. the A's owner at the time, advocated for a "special pinch-runner" type rule that was somewhat similar to what we see in softball today.

That is a mike drop stat right there.
