It goes MUCH further than crunch time. Too many batters are swinging for the fences, rather than going with an outside pitch if necessary. Additionally, if they are trying to drive up the pitch count of the opposing pitcher, they are failing miserably to take advantage of the one hittable pitch per AB.

What should Hinch do at 7 & 8? Drop someone that is hitting to those spots?
The only options are start Tucker or Alvarez in the outfield, or start Machado.
And even then, you only address 1 spot in the 7-9.

If any team can turn it around from a 2-0, it's most definitely this one. Yeah they are likely worn out from the home advantage push, 5 game divisional, 6 game ALCS.. but there's still 5 more to right it.
The entire team needs to do the equivalent of what batters do when they've got two strikes on them. Choke up, shorten the swing and put the ball in play.
Didn't realize the Nats have the best record in MLB since late May. It certainly shows.
The problem with that is that's not what they've done all season. Hard to just flip a switch and do something entirely different than you've done all season. Kind of like bunting or hitting to move runners. We don't do that, we play for the big inning and the home run.Gig-Em2003 said:

His 06 and 13 seasons were not good.
His 2017 WS numbers were not bad. His whip was actually incredibly good.
