Has the lineup been released for today? I'm hoping someone other than Alvarez is batting behind Bregman.

I'd like to see what Alvarez can do with Correa behind him. Maybe he gets a FB he can deposit over that bandbox of a RF porch.

I really wish Alvarez would try going the other way. He's locked into pull/kill mode right now. I'm afraid hitting that upper deck shot has gotten to him.

If we were facing a traditional pitching staff, my ideal would be to put our guys who have "been there, done that" at the top in some order (Springer, Altuve, Bregman, Correa and Yuli) and scramble the remaining at the bottom.

But I also understand the lefty spacing advantage against a team that taxes its bullpen like the Yankees do. Force them to use extra relievers to get through the order. Part of me thinks the reason Hinch has been insistent on using Tucker in certain spots (even pinch hitting) is just to get the other team to change pitchers and use a lefty, not necessarily because he thinks Tucker is gonna mash one.

Anyway, with all that considered, I'd do the lineup like this today:

1. Springer
2. Altuve
3. Bregman (I want him up in the first inning)
4. Brantley (keep him two hitters away from Alvarez)
5. Correa
6. Gurriel
7. Alvarez
8. Machete
9. Reddick

I also think moving Alvarez down to the bottom third could help take some pressure off him. We shall see though.

I think it's just the Yankees doing a very good job pitching him.

I think we overlook that he hit .316 with an .824 OPS in the ALDS. That's not bad at all against that staff.

I know it seems like it but it hasn't been a prolonged slump.

Slump may not be the right word because he's hit alright in the ALDS, but he's striking out more, walking less, and not elevating the ball.

I don't have any data to back this up, but Alvarez seems like someone who likes to see a pitch or two and the fact that he's seeing different pitchers every time up isn't helping him. He doesn't even get to watch them from the on-deck circle.

That and the Yankees have been pitching him really well.

I watched all of Saturdays game on a southwest plane this past weekend flying back to hobby. 90% of the people on the plane had the game.

Streaming worked excellent (southwest provides free tv on flights now)

wow, Gardner moved up to 3 spot, Torres down to 5 spot and DiDi up to 6 hole.

Gardner seems like zero protection for Judge and I don't see Cole giving Judge anything to hit. DiDi doesn't offer protection for Torres either.

50% of the time you'd expect that team to have one game 1 as well, and not many lose after going up 2-0

The other 50% of the time it's 1-1, and I'm the absence of any other info you'd expect the game 2 winner to win half of those series.

So combined you'd expect close to 75% of Game 2 winners to take the series, and 82% isn't very different from 75% (especially with a relatively small sample size)


I would bet if you looked at only 1-1 series, the Game 2 winner takes the series much closer to 50% of the time

Alvarez moved down a spot between Yuli and Correa.

I like this lineup with Brantley moving from 2 to 3 and Alvarez moving. I like having Spring and Altuve back to back

Wish Yuli and Correa were switched. Don't mind moving Yordan down tho

I actually really like this

Gives Yuli some protection if they end up being scared of Yordan and Yordan some protection now that Correa is heating up.
