I think the key tonight is patience. Glasnow has never pitched a game like this (especially not on the road in an elimination game against a lineup like ours) and, though he has great stuff, he doesn't have consistent command. We need to work him deep into counts and force him to make clutch pitches on 2-1, 2-0, 3-1 to get back into counts. He was generally able to do so in game 1 but we'll see tonight.

I tend to lean the other way.

I think we need to pounce early. Get him early in the count when he's trying to sneak that FB by for a strike.

They're gonna yank him early so working counts to drive up pitch count isn't a priority. The longer we let him hang around and wait for a mistake the better chance is he gets pulled before he makes it and they start with their matchup in and out BP shuffle strategy that keeps us guessing.

Hit the FB early in counts and put up some runs before the swapping starts and let Cole do his thing with a lead.

I for the most part agree with you. I think Glasnow is going to throw a first pitch FB tonight, and I want George swinging at it if it's anywhere in a zone he can handle. Don't watch that first pitch FB tonight.

The thing is with their bullpen strategy, the pitchers are free to be in attack mode from the start. We heard Colin talk about that when he was coming out of the pen and how improved his stuff looked. The problem the last two games is getting down in the count early. We've got to turn the counts around against Glasnow tonight and then put the ball in play with decent contact.

To Deluxe's point, I think the walks are down because we're behind in counts from the outset. We've got to stay disciplined, but we also have to be a little aggressive at the same time. I just want to see the ball put into play with decent contact.

I'm hoping we can get 2 runs in the first inning while Gerrit puts up a 0. If we do that, I think everyone settles down, settles in, and we take the game.

Unfortunately I have a dinner scheduled with my director so I'll be nervously watching the bar TV and fidgety the entire time.

Walks are down as are hits. Its this way because that is just how the postseason works. You're only seeing the best of the best pitching. The avg fastball is 95+.

I went to the Arky game that year at Jerryworld and got to witness the collapse...again. That was the final straw for me to hop off the Sherm train. I was literally shaking mad as we walked out. Some chubby Arky girl ran up to me do to the pig sooie in my face, so I yelled "shut the **** up you piggly ****" and my wife was not amused. Not one of my finest moments, but felt better after.

Going to have to invoke Rule #1 here, atm.

I'm sure they'll bring Snell in, who we had some success against in game 4.
