Besides the manager and the coaches the catcher is most involved in the game and game planning. Seems to me to be the case anyway.

Cole is on one heck of a run this year after a few early bumps. I think with one more start he may pitch himself into (and JV out of) the Cy Young

Will he get another start? By number of games left, you'd say 'yes'. But I don't know if they'll get creative the last couple games to line things up for the playoffs.

I kind of wish we could evaluate playoff performance in the case of a tie where both teams make it go the playoffs....

Whoever does better in the playoffs wins Cy young.

Cole vs JV is too close to call

I feel like Cole has to credit the Astros for turning him around to a certain degree. Would Cole be the pitcher he was the last two years without our analytics and coaching?

Not to take away his talent, but sometimes it takes an organization to get the most out of players.

While he could make more money elsewhere, we may be able to give him a dynasty here in Houston which may not be the case at another club.

Cole isn't taking a "hometown" deal, so might as well get that thought out of your head.

On a different note. I was looking back at some all-time strikeout seasons. Holy **** was Randy Johnson good from 1999-2002. Just insane K numbers. You forget about it from that era of homers, but he was dominant.
