Seeing the postseason schedule reminded me of a couple of things that I'd like to see MLB do...idle ramblings on an off day.

1. Have every team play a regularly scheduled DH at home, preferably during the early part of the season (pre-ASB). Maybe one on Memorial Day and another on the 4th of July...teams that were at home for the first would be on the road for the second. Allow teams an extra 4 roster spots for those game days only, and not have it count against the player's option count. The schedule could have additional off days built in to compensate. Maybe price it at a rate of 1.5x a regular game ticket so that there's a bit of value to it. This is admittedly wishful thinking, and I clearly haven't thought all of the minutiae out...the MLBPA would never go for it, though.

2. Have one of the weekend WS games have a daytime start. The last non-prime time start (Eastern or Central time) for a WS game was in 1987, and the Saturday game would be the logical spot. It's competing against college football no matter what time it starts, so put one of the games on at a time when kids (and hell, some of us nearly-old-timers) can watch an entire WS game without having to stay up really late.

Agreed, it's time to see what the kid can do. Also we should be facing easier arms and there should be less overall pressure on him.

I was there for the Fiers one. Unforgettable. Lots of great pictures with the family that day, too.

To add more fuel to the fire... Tucker was batting better last year at AAA compared to this year, was called up, and was pretty awful (and this was before the juiced balls hit minor leagues)...

While I'm sure the Astros have it, I wish we had his minor league splits by pitch. He was flat awful against anything with movement last year, especially down in the zone. Not a recipe for success. Alvarez has shown the ability to adapt and have professional ABs. If he had fixed his issues, the Astros would have called him up again already.
